+ICEBREAKER: M&M Challenge

When the clock starts, player may use only his or her mouth to pick up the flexible straw out of the bowl of candies, and suck up 1 candy at a time onto the straw. Player may then attempt to transfer and balance the candy on 1 of the 4 upright flexible straws.

If a candy falls off a straw, it's out of play.

To complete the game, 1 candy must rest atop each of the 4 flexible straws concurrently within the 60-second time limit, and must remain that way for 3 consecutive seconds.

+Situation #1:

Evaluate

Last semester Adrianna Buttersworth was not very successful. She finished with a 1.8 and was taking all upper division classes. The semester before that she was taking all lower division classes and earned a 3.6.

What Happened?

!!

Correct

Adrianna was used to taking less demanding classes. Her horrific study habits carried over into the next semester. The way she studied in one semester did not work for the other. Adrianna needs to revise her study habits depending on the classes she is taking.

+Situation #2

Evaluate

This semester Tyrone Jones has been working in study groups on the homework assignments. He has been getting A’s on the homework assignments, but when it comes to the test he has been failing. Tyrone is confused why he has been failing the test.

What Happened?

!!

Correct

When Tyrone was in the study groups, he relied too much on his group to complete the homework assignments. Tyrone should have worked on the assignments before meeting with the group and then compared answers while in the group.

+Situation #3

Evaluate

Brian Johanson is an extremely fit student. He always attended his classes, completed his homework and earned a 4.0 his first semester. However, he found himself lonely quite often and depressed. Brian rarely left his dorm room and gained 15 pounds in one semester.

What Happened?

!!

Correct

Brian spent too much time studying and never left room in his schedule for social activities. He was lonely because he never went out or joined any organizations. Brian gained weight because he never planned any exercise time. While getting good grades is important, it is still good to balance your life to get the full college experience.
