Proceeding to D'1'lll30G at li330K, the pa•l. placed li2ht machine gun fire on observed enea:roOD bill 5Yl with undetermined results. At-1630K~. an observation aircraft WOl'king with the patrol obaerved approx:l.mateJ:T 25 enemy in bunkers at DT10,3ll!2 and ]03Ji12. A.t 1'7451, an air strike was delivered. with two VF Aircraft, on hill 5YI and direct hits with rockets were reported. The patrol found six freshly dUg enemy graves at the base of' hill 388, DT103(). lD29Q. At.l215K in the vicinity or D'l'l029Q the patrol took eight civilians into

custody and delivered thEill to base at l800K on recall, The remainder of 3d Bat

talion, 7th Marines continued to consolidate and :!:mprove defensive positions in

accordance with Reg:!:mantal FragJ~~entar;r Order· fif313~. There was negative enem;r

contact throughout the night,

5 July- 1951

At 0700K, •a• Company• s reinforced platoon patrolled to D'l'l030XI, established

an OP and returned to .base at L445K on order with negative 8DEillY contact.

Relllainder of 3d Battalion, 7th Marines continued to consolidate SDd ilnprove

defensive positions as directed b;r Regimental Fragmentary Order fif41515. At

l5.30K, •H• Company received one killed in action and one wunded in action b;r

a booby trap grenade at DTll.24M during the course of work on alternate defensive

positions.. The grenade vas determined to be of Chinese fr!l@llentation type.

There vas negative enemy contact throughout the night.

6 July 1951

At 0700K, "I" Company sent a reinforced platoon patrol to bill 510 at DT103()U.

At 1230K, the patrol, in the vicinity of bill 510, received five rounds or

enemy 105mm artillery fire believed to have COllie from the vicinity of DT0932X.

At 1300K, the patrol received long range small arms fire fran an undetermined

number of en~~DY on hill 537 DT1031Q, Friendly artillery was brought to bear with

undetermined results.. The remainder or 3d Battalion, 7th Marines continued to

consolidate and improve defensive positions in accordance with Reg.illlental Frag

mentary Order fif5l345. Negative ensny contact was reported throughout the night.

7 July ll.95ll.

The 3d Battalion conducted limited local patro:t:l,:i.n;g \lith negative results. In

accordance with Regimental Fraglllentary Order r/J~,. the 3d Battalion vas

relieved on line b;r the 1st Battalion, relief was effected at 1250K,. and 3d Bat

talion, 7th Marines displaced to the regimental reserve area at D'.l'l4:t7E b;r

motor march,. During the period 1 Jul;r 1951 to 7 Jul;r 1951, ensny casualties as

a result of operations or this battalion were eight counted dead,. thirteen

estimated killed in action and twenty five estimated wounded in action, At

this t:!:me the 3d Battalion went into reg:illlental reserve and prepared to execute

Reg:!:mental Training Order 2-?1.. The move was campleted and camp estllblished in

the new bivouac area b;r l.SOOK.. At 1400K~; the Commanding Officer, 3d Battalion,.

7th 1-larines,, was assigned duties as Defense Commander, Reg:!:mental Aaaigned Area•
