FINALS WEEK DAY TO DAY

Saturday, May 6th

Finals week can be very stressful, so to help you out we’ve provided a snazzy week-long planner.

It’s almost as cool as a BlackBerry. Well, maybe not — but at least it’s free.

Sunday, May 7th

Tuesday, May 9th

Event: Study hours at the Womenʼs Resource Center Starting on Friday and going through Tuesday, the

Womenʼs Resource Center in room 414 of the UMC will have study hours from 8 a.m. to midnight. Free coffee will be provided.

Relaxation Tip of the Day: Play with something furry. Spend time with your

favorite pet. If you do not have a pet, there are plenty of dogs running around Norlin Quad that would love for you to say hello. As you look into the eyes of your animal friend, fi nd comfort in the fact that they donʼt care what your GPA is.

Dylan the beagle, named after Bob Dylan, can be frequently seen romping around Norlin Quad in his hemp collar. His guardian, junior communication major Tyler Molvig, highly recommends playing with Dylan as a way to ward off stress.

“Everyone loves him. Wherever I go, I bring him with me and everyone smiles,” he said. “He really makes people happy and relaxed. Heʼll run up to a group of girls, and you can totally tell that it makes their day.”

Although Molvig vouches for Dylanʼs stress-reduc-ing abilities, he personally turns to his cat Jerry, named after Jerry Garcia, for stress relief and inspiration.

“All you have to do is stroke his leopard print tummy, and the thoughts fl ow like wine,” he said.

Senior political science major Sierra Bufe recom-mends taking supplements like fi sh oil tablets, drinking The Republic of Teaʼs cherry-fl avored green tea and staying away from sugars to keep anxiety levels down during fi nals week.

“Fish oil tablets are good because they make you concentrate, and they keep your mood up so you donʼt feel depressed or hopeless,” she said.

Popularized in Italy, the game is played with hard, plastic balls slightly larger than softballs. Each player throws a ball and everyone else tries to throw his/her ball closest to the fi rst one without exceeding it in dis-tance.

McCallan said the game is best played while enjoy-ing a smoothie.

If you feel like you have hit a wall on your quest to memorize dates, names and numbers, close the book and minimize Microsoft Word.

Some students, such as freshman open-option major Mollie Grillo, prefer mellow music for times like these.

“I really like to listen to Sigur Ros or African drum beats when Iʼm stressed out,” she said.

Others prefer the hard stuff. “I like to thrash out to the brutal-est of heavy metal,”

junior fi lm studies major Tom Mares said. Once you have found your song, turn off the bright
