Dear Friends,
I may not say often enough just how thankful I am to be the pastor at Grace United
Methodist Church. Serving among you, God’s people at Grace, is a true blessing. Even as
you take time to look through this current edition of Grace Notes, I think that you will get
a sense of the caring and sharing of the Grace community as, together, we seek to live out
our faith with one another and into the broader community where God calls us to serve.
So many of you give generously of your time, talents, and energy. I want to take a moment,
however, to recognize and thank one particular group for all that they give to truly make
a difference in all of our lives. I want to thank all of you who are a part of our education
ministries. From the nursery to our adult Sunday school, you graciously offer your time,
your patience, your wisdom, and your experience to help all of us in this life-long journey of
growing in and living out our faith. To those who take time each and every week to prepare
and organize materials, those who organize and administer weekly programs and schedules,
those who teach our children, youth, and adults, thank you. You offer love, encouragement,
and new understanding. It is not always an easy task; I know, I was once one of those
second grade boys. Along with the challenges, I hope that you also find the joy, satis-
faction, laughter, and fun of being a part of this important ministry of Grace church.
On behalf of the whole community, thank you, and God’s blessings.
Pastor Kevin

ELECTRONIC GIVING Hello everyone. Spring has sprung early in Minnesota this year and now summer seems right around the corner.
Keeping summer in mind as well as our busy schedules this time of year I wanted to encourage everyone to partici-
pate in electronic giving through Vanco for your offerings to the church. Electronic giving is an effective way to
plan and manage your offerings to help meet your pledge. Electronic giving also helps with church planning and to
fulfill our mission work more efficiently. This also helps to create consistency in offerings during the summer
months when there is so much more going on for all of us.
This month we have included the forms for electronic giving along with your quarterly giving statements that will
be mailed out soon. Also after services in May we will have a table set up to answer questions about electronic
giving that you may have. Electronic giving is on your schedule and offerings can be made weekly, bi-weekly,
monthly, or even on specific days. Simply fill out the form, attach a voided check, and you’re all set. There will be
a box labeled “Electronic Giving” on a table in the Narthex For your completed forms. Let us know if you have any
questions.
Thank you for taking the time to consider this option for your offering.

“WHY I SERVE”
By Cara Kennedy
Why I serve . . . has everything to do with how I was raised. My parents modeled service. Even
as children we were told to share what we have with others, as we had plenty. We had food in
the fridge, warm beds and a nice middle income life. My father grew up “without” and I think it
was very important to him that we serve those in need, as he once was. Christianity was at the
base of these teachings. We always said prayers before dinner and bed along with church on
Sundays. We were shown that helping others can be to your friend across the street or to
others far away, as my parents did over 20 Nomad trips. It has been my experience that when
you serve you ALWAYS get back more than you give, so it’s inspiration to keep doing more. I
never want to be caught not answering the door, because it just could be Jesus knocking.
The American Red Cross will be holding a
blood drive at Grace on Monday, May 18th
in Fellowship Hall from noon to 6:00 p.m.
For an appointment please go online to
www.redcrossblood.org and
enter sponsor code Grace BV or
contact the Church Office or
sign up for an appointment on
Sundays in the Narthex. Be
the type that gives. Your dona-
tion could help save three lives.
2015 LOVE OFFERING FOR MISSIONS
Each year churches in the Minnesota Annual Conference take a Love Offering for
Missions. The Love Offering benefits international, national, and Minnesota missions.
The special offering is received during the month of May and brought by each local
church to Annual Conference.
The 2015 Annual Conference theme is "God's Vision, Our Mission—Unleashed" and funds from this
year's Love Offering will to go three projects that will help us answer God's call to heal a broken world.
The three mission programs that have been designated to receive funds from the 2015 Love Offering
are: 60% will go to Grace Children's Center in Vietnam; 30% will go to support Church-School Partner-
ship Grants here in Minnesota; and 10% will go to Volunteers in Mission Scholarships. For more detailed
information on each of these mission recipients go to- https://minnesotaumc.org/news/conference-
session/love-offering/
Grace UMC will receive the Love Offering during worship services the first three Sundays in May,
prior to Annual Conference. Please mark Love Offering on your donation.
