Cooling System. The 826G Series IIis designed specifically for landfillcompactors operating at 100 percentengine load. At these conditions, the ambient capability is abovethe benchmark of 43˚C, demonstratingthe machine’s purpose-built coolingsystem.
Roof-Mounted Air Conditioner. Makesthe rear cooling package easier to cleanbecause the A/C core is removed fromthe rear. It also reduces the frequencyof cleaning for the condenser core, providing better cooling to the cab forlonger periods of time.
1 Air Inlet Screen. Is vertically-corrugated, fine mesh to help reducetrash from entering the radiator areaand allow debris to fall off.
2 Auto-Reversing, Hydraulically-DrivenFan. Is an electronically controlled, hydraulically driven, on-demand fansystem that reduces sound levels andincreases fuel economy whileproviding maximum coolingefficiency by directing power throughthe system as needed. With electroniccontrol of the continuously variable-speed, on-demand fan, temperaturelevels of the engine coolant, transmission oil, hydraulic oil and airinlet manifold are constantlymonitored. This information is usedto control and maintain fan speed atthe level necessary to maintainnormal system temperatures. It alsoreverses direction for 20 secondsevery 30 minutes or manually fromthe cab, to purge the intake screens ofdebris.
3 Swing-Out Radiator Fan. The fancan swing out 65 degrees to provideaccess to the cooling cores from theside opposite the direction of airflow. This is the ideal side from which toclean the radiator and enables thesystem to be accessed wrench-freeand cleaned in 15 minutes or less.
Advanced Modular Cooling System(AMOCS). The G-Series II coolingsystem has been upgraded to theAdvanced Modular Cooling System(AMOCS). It is a Caterpillar exclusivetechnology that improves serviceability. The brass tubes on the AMOCS arestraight and in-line, along with six fins per inch, making the radiator easy to keep clean. The tubes are welded to a large, thick header, providing the strength of the tube-header joint, reducing the possibility of coolant leaks.
Hinged Oil Cooler Core. Swings out30 degrees from the radiator for easiercleaning.

Wheels and TipsCaterpillar offers a choice of tips and blades welded on our own steel wheels that will fityour needs. No matter what your choice may be, it is part of the total system our compactorsoffer: maximum production, performance and compaction.
Plus Tips. With Abrasion-ResistanceMaterial (ARM) have a plus-shapeddesign for superior compaction andsidehill stability on sloped material.A widely spaced tip pattern requirefewer tips than competitors and resultsin less plugging, lower replacement costand maximum compaction. Plus Tipsare guaranteed for 10,000 hours or fouryears of wear life. They offer the lowestcost per hour of any compactor tips inthe industry.
Self Cleaning Chopper Wheels. Are designed to deliver maximumcompaction and traction. Aggressivechopping action is provided by24 blades per wheel. Heat-treated DH-2,Abrasion Resistant Material steel bladesprovide longer wear. The staggeredchevron blade arrangement evenlydistributes chopping coverage. Bladecenter gussets help assure maximumrefuse demolition. Blades are mounteddifferently on the front and rear wheelsto maximize chopping and compactionin both forward and reverse.
Weld-On Traction Tips. Are designedfor landfill applications wheremaximum traction is required. Thesetips perform best in frozen or otherdifficult to penetrate applications.Designed and built to Caterpillarstandards, these tips are forged formaximum strength and AbrasionResistant Material is applied to criticalwear areas.
Smooth Wheel Option. If our tipselection does not meet your needs, consider our Caterpillar smooth steelwheel. We test and build a Caterpillarsystem. Engineers who work togetherwith our power train, structures andmanufacturing engineers design andmanufacture our wheels in the samefacility in which the machines aredesigned and built. This ensures theentire system is complemented by eachcomponent. If you alter components,
you could compromise a system thatwas designed and tested for peakperformance. If a wheel is produced thatdoes not meet our design specificationsand does not balance the load over ourfinal drives, it could reduce the life ofthe bearing substantially and wear outother components creating unnecessarydowntime. This also allows ourstandard axle guard system to workwith the components for which it wasdesigned.
Standard Equipment. The standardmachine offering is the long-life PlusTip that provides excellent traction andside-hill stability with a self-cleaninglayout that resists plugging or the self-cleaning chopper blades for shreddingmaterial, the special application tractiontip. All choices are specificallydesigned for our Caterpillar steelwheels.

HydraulicsWell-balanced hydraulics deliver precise, low-effort control and trouble-free operation.
Hydraulic System. Provides low-effortblade control. Seat-mounted levers sendelectrical signals to a pilot valvemounted on the front frame. This movesthe sound, heat and effort caused by ahydraulic valve out of the operator’sstation.
Command Control Steering.A mechanical feedback systemcombines with valve ratio to providequarter-turn, side-to-side steering.Unlike systems that rely on steeringwheel velocity to activate steeringcylinders, this system directly linkssteering wheel position to articulation. The speed the machine turns isproportional to the steering wheelposition. The benefit is precise control, quicker response and dramaticallyreduced operator motion and effort.
Hydraulic Power Steering. Featurescenter-point frame articulation thatpermits the front and rear wheels totrack. Hydraulic power is a flow-amplified system, with full-flowfiltering. The steering wheel operatedpilot valve controls flow to the steeringcylinders. The steering angle is ±42°.
Load Sensing Steering. Maximizesmachine performance by directingpower to the steering system only whenthe operator steers the machine. Thisallows more power to be applied to theground when the machine is not beingsteered. It also helps decrease fuelconsumption because the steeringsystem does not constantly draw on theengine.
Positive-Displacement HydraulicPumps. Perform with high efficiencyand great reliability. For improvedserviceability, all hydraulic pumps aremounted on a single pump drive.
Lift Lines. Are located in a high locationabove the cylinder yoke where damagefrom debris is less likely.
XT-3 and XT-5 Hose. Along with O-ringface seals and a large capacity liftcylinder top off the hydraulic system, delivering the performance anddurability owners expect. Reliablecomponents reduce the risk of leaks andblown lines, helping protect theenvironment and reducing operatingcosts.
