Paddy : Paddy is a very important crop among all food grains in the State. It grows both in kharif as well as in rabi season. High temperatures and high rainfall or water for irrigation are required for paddy. It is grown in all types of soils. 2. Jowar: Jowar is another important food crop after paddy. It grows mainly in all Telangana dis- tricts except Nizamabad. It grows both in kharif as well as in rabi season. 3. Bajra : Bajra is a rain-fed. It grows in Nalgonda and Mahaboob nagar. It grows both in Karif as well as in rabi seasons. 4. Rag : This crop mostly grows in Ranga Reddy, Medak and Mahaboobnagar districts. Ragi crop is grown in both the seasons in the state. 5. Wheat : Wheat is grown in small quantities in our state in Ranga Reddy, Nizamabad, Medak and Adilabad districts. 6. Pulses : Redgram, Greengram, blackgram, Bengal gram and horsegram are important pulses that are grown in our state. 7. Redgram : It grows in both kharif as well as rabi seasons and in all the district of Telanga na. It mostly grows in Adilabad, Maha boobnagar and Ranga Reddy districts. 8. Green gram : It grows in both the seasons of Karif and rabi. It grows in Medak, Nalgonda, Waran gal, Khammam, Karimnagar and Adilabad dis- tricts. Cash Crops 9. Tobacco : It grows mainly in rabi season. Kha mmam and Warangal districts are famous for tobacco crop. 10. Cotton: Cotton grows in Adilabad and Maha boob- nagar districts. Short staple cotton grows in rain-fed areas and long staple cotton grows in irrigated areas. Each bale is of 170 kilograms. 11. Sugar-cane: It grows in Nizamabad and Medak districts and in the areas where irrigation facilities are available. 12. Chillies : Though Chillies are grown in all district, they grow mostly in Warangal, Kha mmam, karimnagar and Nalgonda districts. 13. Onion : Onions grow mostly in Ranga Reddy dis- tricts. 14. Turmeric : It grows in Nizamabad and Karimnagar dis- tricts. 15. Oil Seeds : Groundnut, castor seed, seasmum and sun- flower are important oil seeds grown in Telangana state. 16. Groundnuts : It grows both in kharif and rabi seasons. It grows mainly in Mahaboobnagar and Nalgonda districts. 17. Sun flower : It is a rain-fed crop. 19. Sesamum : The sesamum producing districts are Adilabad, Karimnagar. Sesamum grows in kharif as well as in rabi seasons. 20. Coconuts: Lemon, Orange, plantation, grape, sa pota, cashew, guava and custard apples are grown sufficiently in the state. Vine yards are found in plenty in Ranga Reddy districts. Mahaboobnagar district is fa mous for custard apples. MINERAL WEALTH Telangana state is endowed with many valu- able mineral resources. Asbestos, co al, barytes, copper, limestone, lead, mica, bauxite etc. are available in Telangana. 1. Coal : Andhra Pradesh is the only state that produces coal in South India. Coal is found in the Godavari Valley, mainly in the districts of Adilabad, Kareemnagar, Khammam and Warangal. 2. Asbestos: 90% of the total asbestos reserves of India are in our State. It is found in Maha bubnagar districts. it is being exported to Belgium and Germany. 3. Barytes: Andhra Pradesh is foremost in India both in reserved and production of bary tes. It is found in Khammam and Maha bubnagar dis- tricts. 4. Lime Stone : 2,000 million tons of limestone resour ces are found in Adilabad, Ranga Reddy, and Nalgonda districts. 5. Mica : Mica reserves are mostly found in Kha mmam and Warangal districts. 7. Iron ore : It is mostly found in Khammam and Adila bad districts. Iron ore is exported to Japan. 8. Lead: It is found mostly in Khammam district. 9. Copper : It is mainly found in Khammam district. 12. Quartz : Quartz reserves are found in Ranga Reddy, Mahabubnagar, Medak and Niza mabad dis- tricts. 14. Dolomite : Dolomite deposits are found in Khamm am district. 15. Atomic Minerals : Uranium reserves are found in Maha bubna- gar and Nalgonda districts. INDUSTRIES Heavy and medium industries are mostly found in the districts of Medak, Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda. Hyderabad stands first in small- scale industries. Next in importance are Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda districts respec- tively. IMPORTANT INDUSTRIES 1. Paper Industry : Big mills are located in Sirpur-Kagajnagar and Bhadracha lam. Important Paper Industires and their location 1. Sirpur Papermills- Kaghaj Nagar (Adila bad) 2. Adivasi Paper Mills- Khammam 2. Sugar industry : Sugar mills are found almost in every dis- trict. Khandasari mills are mainly found in Nizamabad and Medak districts. The Nizam Sugar Factory at Bhodan is the biggest sugar factory in the state. There are six more sugar mills at different places in the state under con- trol of Nizam Sugar Factory. 3. Textile Industry : Textile mills are located in Warangal, Hyderabad, Nalgonda and Adilabad Districts. 4. Cigarette Industry : At present there are five cigarette factories in the state. AgricultureFood Crops1. Paddy :

Paddy is a very important crop

among all food grains in the State. It grows

both in kharif as well as in rabi season. High

temperatures and high rainfall or water for

irrigation are required for paddy. It is grown in

all types of soils.

2. Jowar:

Jowar is another important food crop after

paddy. It grows mainly in all Telangana dis-

tricts except Nizamabad. It grows both in

kharif as well as in rabi season.

3. Bajra :

Bajra is a rain-fed. It grows in Nalgonda

and Mahaboob nagar. It grows both in Karif

as well as in rabi seasons.

4. Rag :

This crop mostly grows in Ranga Reddy,

Medak and Mahaboobnagar districts. Ragi

crop is grown in both the seasons in the state.

5. Wheat :

Wheat is grown in small quantities in our

state in Ranga Reddy, Nizamabad, Medak and

Adilabad districts.

6. Pulses :

Redgram, Greengram, blackgram, Bengal

gram and horsegram are important pulses that

are grown in our state.

7. Redgram :

It grows in both kharif as well as rabi seasons

and in all the district of Telanga na. It mostly

grows in Adilabad, Maha boobnagar and

Ranga Reddy districts.

8. Green gram :

It grows in both the seasons of Karif and

rabi. It grows in Medak, Nalgonda, Waran gal,

Khammam, Karimnagar and Adilabad dis-

tricts.

Cash Crops 9. Tobacco :

It grows mainly in rabi season. Kha mmam

and Warangal districts are famous for tobacco

10. Cotton:

Cotton grows in Adilabad and Maha boob-

nagar districts. Short staple cotton grows in

rain-fed areas and long staple cotton grows in

irrigated areas. Each bale is of 170 kilograms.

11. Sugar-cane:

It grows in Nizamabad and Medak districts

and in the areas where irrigation facilities are

available.

Though Chillies are grown in all district,

they grow mostly in Warangal, Kha mmam,

karimnagar and Nalgonda districts.

13. Onion :

sufficiently in the state. Vine yards are found

in plenty in Ranga Reddy districts.

Mahaboobnagar district is fa mous for custard

apples.

MINERAL WEALTHTelangana state is endowed with many valu-

able mineral resources. Asbestos, co al,

district.

gar and Nalgonda districts.

INDUSTRIESHeavy and medium industries are mostly

found in the districts of Medak, Ranga Reddy,

Nalgonda. Hyderabad stands first in small-

scale industries. Next in importance are

Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda districts respec-

tively.
