Air Sacs (Alveoli)
• There are about 600 million alveoli in an adult. The total surface area is about
100m2 ~ one-third area of a tennis court.
• The alveoli walls are only 7 millionths of a millimetre across (1 cell). This is one-fiftieth the thickness of a human hair.
