As Digital Jewels begins the countdown to thher 10 year of delivering high quality

dis�nc�ve service, we can’t but look back

and give thanks for the impact made over the last 9 years in Nigeria and across 9 African Countries. Our 9th year anniversary was marked with a thanksgiving service for staff on the 6th of February at our office in Lagos, Nigeria. The event was graced by one of our directors in the person of Mr. Tonye Cole who challenged us to seek divine guidance for the journey ahead, whilst Mr Weyimi Jemide graciously officiated the service. Amidst the celebra�ons and reminiscing of the impact made over the years, it was also a �me for all members of the DJL team to challenge ourselves to higher standards. Also in the course of the

quarter we witnessed the formal presenta�on to Galaxy Backbone Ltd- the Informa�on Technology and shared services provider of the Federal Government of Nigeria. The Company embarked on the journey to implement the ISO20000 (global standard for IT Service Management) in 2016 and we were privileged to have provided consul�ng support to achieving the globally acclaimed ISO9001:2015 QMS Cer�fica�on. Previously, we had provided end-to-end consul�ng support to a�ain cer�fica�on to this same standard to First Bank of Nigeria, VDT and Jaiz Bank in addi�on to the over 30 implementa�ons of standards and Frameworks such as PCIDSS, ISO27001, ISO22301, COBIT 5.0, ITIL and others. The Nigerian Associa�on of Compuer Science Students (Moshood Abiola Polytechnic chapter) organized a week long orienta�on programme in February. ith the advent of an era of change, the need arises for organiza�ons to look inwards and focus Wvalue crea�on efforts on strategic objec�ves that best deliver value to all stakeholders. This can be best achieved through effec�ve enterprise governance. Whilst there is evolving interest

from boards and top management of various organiza�ons on the need for improved governance of informa�on and Informa�on Technology (IT) especially for financial ins�tu�ons in Nigeria, a lot of this interest is driven by the compliance mandate set by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for the implementa�on of various best prac�ce standards and frameworks by all banks opera�ng in Nigeria. “Compliance” though necessary, is not sufficient to derive the benefits of accruable to IT Governance. The ISO38500 (IT Governance standard) and COBIT 5 (The Business Framework for the Governance and Management of Enterprise IT) are respec�vely the global de-facto standard and methodology for IT Governance. Achieving opera�onal excellence, genera�ng and realizing business benefits, and op�mizing risks and cost are some of the benefits that could be achieved through the implementa�on of this framework. The la�er translates to effec�vely balancing organiza�on's strategic performance and conformance objec�ves – the essence of organiza�on's con�nued existence. This is also further bu�ressed by the COBIT 5 framework by realising an organiza�on's value crea�on objec�ve through Benefits Realiza�on, Risk Op�miza�on and Resource Management. We bring to bear our extensive track record in implemen�ng COBIT across 9 African countries, conduc�ng Capability maturity assessments (COBIT 4.1) and more recently Process Capability assessments (COBIT 5.0) with a COBIT Cer�fied Assessor in house, implemen�ng the framework and developing extensive capacity and capability, as an accredited trainer for COBIT Founda�on, Implementer and Assessor courses. As a strong advocate for IT Governance, we have had numerous value-adding related ini�a�ves across organisa�ons from the Board level down the enterprise, across professional bodies and Ins�tutes far and wide.
