I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend and you are refreshed for the last four weeks of Term Two. ENROL NOW FOR KINDERGARTEN 2021 We have 30 enrolments for next year as of Friday 5 June. If you have a child who is starting school next year or you know someone in the community with a child eligible to start school, please enrol or get them to enrol ASAP. Planning has begun for 2021 staffing and Kindergarten numbers are essential to plan accurately. HIGH ST ENTRY Access is still disrupted with the ongoing work to complete the ramp and steps. Please follow teacher directions to enforce social distancing and safety for yourself, students and staff for afternoon pick up and morning drop off. LIFT AND WALKWAY UPDATE The lift is making great progress inside the lift shaft and is on track for 22 June completion. More painting of the disabled toilet and lift walkway was completed on Friday. More work on the roof of the walkway was in progress on Friday as well. Hopefully all construction work will be completed by the end of term. THANK YOU Thank you again to Brisbania Public School’s wonderful students and staff for their ongoing attitude and work ethic during this unique term. Thank you to Rose and Paula for providing recess and lunch via Flexischools. Thank you to Caitlin and her volunteers for uniform shop order collation. Thank you to all parents who have followed social distancing directives to provide a safe environment at Brisbania Public School. Thank you to staff, parents and students who have had the COVID-19 test to ensure our safety. ENROL NOW FOR KINDERGARTEN 2021 Do you have a child starting school in 2021?

Please register at the office and pick up your information pack. If you have friends or neighbours with children who will be in Kindergarten next year, please let them know.

Kindergarten numbers impact on the whole school structure each year, so the earlier we know Kindergarten numbers the easier it is to plan teachers, classes and rooms needed in 2021.

Mrs Duruz and her 2020 Kindergarten team will begin transition visits to preschools from Term Three, if all returns to normal by then.

Our Headstart program is anticipated to be held on the first 5 Fridays of Term 4 - 16 October, 23 October, 30 October, 6 November and 13 November with our Headstart Parent Information Morning on 16 October from 9:00am to 11:30am.

Intention to apply for Year 5 entry to an opportunity class in 2021

Dear Parent/Carer Opportunity classes can provide intellectual stimulation by grouping together high potential and gifted students who may otherwise be isolated from a suitable peer group. Successful students will usually have to leave their current school to enrol in a school with an opportunity class for Years 5 and 6. New for 2021 entry A Year 5 virtual opportunity class has been established at Aurora College for students in rural and remote NSW. Further information is available at http://www.aurora.nsw.edu.au/ Testing and assessment Applications for opportunity class placement are considered on the results of the Opportunity Class Placement Test. Students who wish to be considered for opportunity class placement will sit the Opportunity Class Placement Test on Wednesday 16 September 2020. How to apply If you would like to have your child considered for Year 5 opportunity class entry in 2021, you need to apply between Tuesday 9 June 2020 and Friday 26 June 2020. You will need to access the online application at https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-5 . You must not use the child’s email address. If you do not have internet access, you could apply at a public library. If you have a disability that prevents you from using a computer, you can contact the High Performing Students Team for assistance after 9 June 2020.
