Wax finish is an old-fashion look that contractors from

the 40’s up to the 50’s used before urethanes was introduced in the market.

Here are the 9 steps in how to wax your wooden floor using two coats of wax and two coats of

shellac and liquid wax.

First, mix 50 part shellac with a 50 part denatured alcohol.

Use either a 6” china bristle brush or a lamb’s wool applicator to apply the mixture.

After applying the first layer of the mixture, you need to buff the floor first before you apply another layer.

In this step you will need to make the floor smooth. Use a 16”steel wool with a thick white pad for this.

In using liquid wax, pour it out and use a rag that can hold a lot of wax.

Apply the liquid wax parallel on plank floors and circular motion for parquet floors.

Buff the wax and polish it with your desired sheen using a buffer.
