Task

To apply postmodern theory to a music video,

I have applied post modern theory to Eminem -Without me.

Narcissism

This shows that they are copying another type of media and have tried to imitate MIB (Men in Black). The main thing that suggest this to me is the glasses that the man in the screen shot is wearing are similar to the ones that are wore by Will Smith in MIB. Another thing is the skin colour of both men is very similar and makes it more of a link.

Bricolage

During the video you can see that a comic theme runs through the whole video. As you can see from the screen shots the is also very typical of something that MARVEL create and this has been copied in this video.

Intertexuality

As you can see from the screen shots that Eminem is applying everything he says to batman. He dresses up as robin and this automatically suggests that he is talking about batman as in the films they both work together.

Breaking the fourth wall

In this screenshot you can see that Eminem is looking directly at the camera and we as the audience this makes us think that he is directly talking to us.

Parody

Parody is when you mock another type of media. This is done a few times through out the music video. Elvis is one of the first people they make a parody of.

Second the American government by showing bin laden hiding in a cave and how he hid for such a long time.
