NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents,

KIDS IN SPACE

This year our whole school musical is Kids In Space. The rock musical will be quite different to last year and will provide you with a rewarding

contrast that will have you in the groove and singing as you leave the theatre.

As per last year, the musical will be performed at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre in Term 3 on Thursday 11 August. Tickets will be on sale at the school from the end of this term for $18/ticket. Parents with a student in Pre-primary will get one complimentary ticket so that

your child can enjoy the show with you until they are required to perform on stage.

I’ve retained the cost of the tickets at the same price as last year. Ticket sales help to cover some of the costs for the hire of the theatre.

Help with costumes will be greatly appreciated and a date for a meeting will be set in the near future. A note to all parents will be arriving

home in week six with details of how you can help us and the kids achieve success with our major performance.

Students who form the main cast from years 4, 5 and 6 have already been busily rehearsing after school on Mondays and Thursdays.

There’s a great deal of excitement mixed with nerves and dedicated study of their scripts.

Please set aside this important date in your diary….Thursday 11 August.

HATS

A massive thanks to the P&C who organized the embroidering of school hats with student names! A simple idea for a very small cost and

amazing turnaround times! Misplaced hats can now be easily returned to rightful owners in a fraction of the time.

CAPACITY AND VOLUME – HELP FROM OUR WA MILK INDUSTRY

I’d like to acknowledge Brownes Dairy for supporting us by supplying new and unfilled milk cartons of varying sizes to support our Mathemat-

ics program. The Promotions Manager (Michael) was highly responsive to our request and keen to donate to our new school.

WA’s WALK TO SCHOOL DAY

My special thanks to Trina Clayton, year 4 teacher, who coordinated the Walk to School this Friday morning and registered our school as

participants.

The annual celebration promotes walking and encourages children and families to leave their cars at home and walk or ride instead. Thank

you to everyone who joined in the spirit of the day and were greeted with some fruit and juice on arrival.

CANBERRA STUDY TOUR As promised in the previous newsletter, I’ve attached some pictures of the year 6 students during their activities at various venues during

their amazing trip to Canberra.

ROUND ROBIN On Wednesday our year 4, 5 and 6 students participated in the Round Robin competition against other schools. They sported our Golden

Bay Primary School football and soccer shirts for the first time. See the insert for some amazing pictures and reports from our Faction

Leaders.

I’m currently on Long Service Leave in South Australia and will return on Monday 30 May. Russell Newbound is your key contact during my

time away.

I look forward to a big catch up with everyone on my return.

School Car Parks

Thanks to all those parents using the

Tangadee Road and Arizona Parade car

parks. For safety reasons I allocated the

car park at the front of the school on

Thundelarra Drive as a ‘Staff Only’ car

park. A number of families cross the car

park drive area at the start and finish of

school.

I respectfully ask that parents not use this

car park unless they have a child with a

disability requiring close parking.

IMMUNISATION

It is a requirement by the Education Department to receive all immunisation records

from the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (ACIR) print out. This can be obtained by calling

1800653809.

If your child’s immunisations are not recorded on ACIR it may affect your family payments.

An immunisation provider will assist children not up–to-date or vaccinated overseas to receive

the correct scheduled vaccinations and have their records put on ACIR.

The nurses at the immunisation clinic at Kwinana Community Health 94192266 can also provide this

service.

Please ring and book an appointment.

Next Week’s Activities

OSHClub News

Before School / After School Care Program

Program Update

Dear Parents and Children.

We are well underway with our OSHClub fun this Term. We have been really enjoying our outside play while the weather is good,

however a lot of us are forgetting our hats because they are kept in our trays. If parents could possibly have a spare hat (does not have

to be a school hat) handy for their children to keep at OSHClub we can always be prepared to be Sun Smart!

Coming up this Term we are looking at Sustainability and how we can be sustainable in our OSHClub centre, school, home and

community! With lots of fun, hands on activities we will learn together about how to take care of our natural world!

A reminder that enrolling you child or children in OSHCLUB is easy and free. All you need to do is complete an enrolment form on line

at www.OSHCLUB.com.au where you will have the option of booking as either permanent or casual user. I believe this to be beneficial

for all families as once your child is enrolled you then have the comfort of knowing the program is available to you anytime should any

unforeseen circumstance arise. It also gives you the assurance that your child or children will be cared for in safe, warm and friendly

environment.

Please drop in and say Hello in Teaching Block 4

Opening hours are 7am to 9.00am and 2.15pm to 6pm.

We are currently updating our records and enrolments so there may be some forms that we need to update and have parents sign

over the next few weeks.

Also our lost property box is starting to over flow, so if your child is missing a hat or jacket feel free to pop into Block 4 and have a look

through if your child is missing an item.

RECYCLABLES WANTED

If you have any recyclable items laying around the house that could be used in our construction creating, feel free to drop them off at

block 4. These items can include egg cartons, boxes, bottles, jars, newspaper etc.

USED TOYS, PUZZLES & GAMES WANTED

Also, if you have any old unwanted toys, puzzles or games lying around collecting dust, we would love to take them off your hands!

Anything from board games, large or small puzzles to construction toys and blocks. Even old dress-up or items to add to our home

corner would be great!

Thanks in advance!
