Lord Beaverbrook is one of the most vital schools and versatile school facilities within the CBE. The facilities both in the school and surrounding the school provide our students with unique learning opportunities and conveniences not found in all high schools.

Our students continue to benefit from: • A $25 M modernization to Career and Technology (CTS) facilities • Three fitness centers and weight rooms • Located in the community of Acadia; a central location in Calgary • Positive school-community relations • Walkable proximity to recreation facilities (Acadia Recreation Complex,

Acadia Pool, Alberta Tennis Centre/National Tennis Development Program) • Contracted-working relationships with recreation facilities • Three full outdoor athletic fields (one of which is fully irrigated)

Lord Beaverbrook, opened in 1968, has reached its 50th year milestone. While it was once the largest high school in Western Canada, with upwards of 3000 students, rapid growth in south Calgary led to new high schools being opened which twice impacted the overall population of our building. Another recent change is that Chinook Learning has been integrated into our building, allowing students to complete their high school diploma or upgrade a particular course.

Lord Beaverbrook continues to evolve, as the city does around us; we continue to offer a full range of academic, elective, and extra-curricular programming. We believe our students will directly benefit from a smaller school environment - where they will have comfortable class sizes, be better known by our dedicated staff, will have more opportunities to participate with our sports teams, will have the chance to stand out, and will very much feel “fiercely proud” of their school culture.

Students at Lord Beaverbrook are encouraged to participate in a multitude of extra-curricular experiences such as: Sports Teams

Early Fall Football Volleyball Cross Country Girls’ Soccer Late Fall Basketball Swimming Wrestling Spring Rugby Badminton Girls’ Field Hockey Boys’ Soccer Track & Field
