RECORD SHOP DRAWINGS IN AUTOCAD FORMAT. C. RECORD COPY OF SITE SPECIFIC SOFTWARE (FOR SOFTWARE BASED). D. NFPA 72 RECORD OF COMPLETION DOCUMENTATION. 1. ALL WORK SHALL CONFORM TO TITLE 24 2016 CALIFORNIA CODE OF REGULATIONS (CCR). 2. CHANGES TO THE APPROVED DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS SHALL BE MADE BY AN ADDENDUM OR A CHANGE ORDER APPROVED BY THE DIVISION OF THE STATE ARCHITECT, AS REQUIRED BY SECTION 4-338, PART 1, TITLE 24, CCR. 3. A PROJECT INSPECTOR EMPLOYED BY THE DISTRICT (OWNER) AND APPROVED BY THE DIVISION OF THE STATE ARCHITECT SHALL PROVIDE CONTINUOUS INSPECTION OF THE WORK. THE DUTIES OF THE INSPECTOR ARE DEFINED IN SECTION 4-232, PART 1, TITLE 24, CCR. 4. AN INSPECTOR WHO IS SPECIALLY QUALIFIED IN MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL WORK WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THIS PROJECT. 7. CUTTING, BORING, SAWCUTTING, OR DRILLING THROUGH THE NEW OR EXISTING STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS TO BE DONE ONLY WHEN SO DETAILED IN THE DRAWINGS OR ACCEPTED BY THE ARCHITECT AND STRUCTURAL ENGINEER WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE DSA REPRESENTATIVE. MOVEABLE EQUIPMENT WHICH IS STATIONED IN ONE PLACE FOR MORE THAN 8 HOURS AND HEAVIER THAN 400 POUNDS ARE REQUIRED TO BE ANCHORED WITH TEMPORARY ATTACHMENTS. THE FOLLOWING MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS SHALL BE POSITIVELY ATTACHED TO THE STRUCTURE, BUT THE ATTACHMENT NEED NOT BE DETAILED ON THE PLANS. THESE COMPONENTS SHALL HAVE FLEXIBLE CONNECTIONS PROVIDED BETWEEN THE COMPONENT AND ASSOCIEATED DUCTWORK, PIPING, AND CONDUIT. A. COMPONENTS WEIGHING LESS THAN 400 POUNDS AND HAVE A CENTER OF MASS LOCATED 4 FEET OR LESS ABOVE THE ADJACENT FLOOR OR ROOF LEVEL THAT DIRECTLY SUPPORT THE COMPONENT. B. COMPONENTS WEIGHING LESS THAN 20 POUNDS, OR IN THE CASE OF DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMS, LESS THAN 5 POUNDS PER FOOT, WHICH ARE SUPPORTED FROM A ROOF OR FLOOR OR HUNG FROM A WALL. FOR THOSE ELEMENTS THAT DO NOT REQUIRE DETAILS ON THE APPROVED DRAWINGS, THE INSTALLATION SHALL BE SUBJECTED TO THE APPROVAL OF THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER OF RECORD AND THE DSA DISTRICT STRUCTURAL ENGINEER. GENERAL NOTESABBREVIATIONS

1. WORK INCLUDED: LABOR, MATERIAL, APPLIANCES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, FACILITES, TRANSPORTATION AND SERVICES NECESSARY AND INCIDENTIAL TO PERFOMING ALL OPERATIONS IN CONNECTION WITH THE DEMOLITION, DISPOSAL,TRANSPORTATION AND RECONNECTION OF EXISTING REMAINING EQUIPMENT/ DEVICES. COMPLETE AS INDICATED IN THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS AS SPECIFIED HEREIN.

2. THE FOLLOWING IS INTENDED TO COVER THE COMPLETE DEMOLITION, DISPOSAL, TRANSPORTATION AND RECONNECTION OF EXISTING FIRE ALARM EQUIPMENT. THE OMISSION OF EXPRESSED REFERENCE TO ANY ITEM OF LABOR OR MATERIAL FOR THE PROPER EXECUTION OF THE WORK IN ACCORDANCE WITH PRESENT PRACTICE OF THE TRADE SHALL NOT RELIEVE THE CONTRACTOR FROM PROVIDING SUCH ADDITIONAL LABOR AND MATERIALS.

3. REFER TO THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS FOR ADDITIONAL DEMOLITION REQUIREMENTS WHICH AFFECT THE PROPER EXECUTION OF THIS WORK. DIAGRAMS AND SYMBOLS SHOWING FIRE ALARM ARE DIAGRAMMATIC ONLY. WIRING DIAGRAMS DO NOT NECESSARILY SHOW THE EXACT PHYSICAL ARRANGEMENT OF THE EQUIPMENT.

4. IT IS THE CONTRACTORS RESPONSIBILITY TO VISIT THE SITE AND BECOME THOROUGHLY FAMILIAR WITH ALL FEATURES OF THE BUILDING AND SITE WHICH MAY AFFECT THE PROPER PERFORMANCE OF THIS WORK.

5. PORTIONS OF THESE PLANS HAVE BEEN DERIVED FROM INFORMATION TAKEN FROM ORIGINAL FIRE ALARM PLANS. THE INTENT OF THE DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATION IS TO PROVIDE FOR THE REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL OF ALL FIRE ALARM EQUIPMENT, DEVICES, BOXES, CONDUIT, WIRING, ETC. AS DEFINED HERIN AND AS INDICATED ELSEWHERE IN THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS.

6. IT IS UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED THAT THIS CONTRACT DOES NOT CONTEMPLATE THE HANDLING OF ASBESTOS, PCB OR ANY HAZARDOUS WASTE MATERIAL. IF ABESTOS, PCB OR ANY HAZARDOUS WASTE MATERIAL IS ENCOUNTERED, NOTIFY THE ELECTRICAL ENGINEER IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT DISTURB, HANDLE OR ATTEMPT TO REMOVE.

7. THE SCOPE OF DEMOLITION WORK SHALL INCLUDE, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

A. SUBMIT PROPOSED OUTAGE SCHEDULE. PROVIDE A SEQUENCE OF DEMOLITION TO INSURE THE UNINTERRUPTED USE OF OCCUPIED PORTIONS OF THE FACILITY WHICH ARE TO REMAIN OPERATIONAL DURING THE CONTRACT PERIOD.

B. SYSTEM OUTAGES SHALL BE PERMITTED ONLY AT TIMES APPROVED BY OWNER, IN WRITING. WORK WHICH COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENTAL OUTAGE SHALL BE PERFOMRED WITH THE OWNERS MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL ADVISED OF SUCH WORK.

C. REMOVED MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT WHICH IN THE OPINION OF THE OWNER ARE SALVAGEABLE, SHALL REMAIN THE PROPERTY OF THE OWNER. DELIVER SUCH SALVAGE MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT ON PREMISES AS DIRECTED, NEATLY PILE OR ARRANGE THEM AND PROTECT FROM DAMAGE. DO NOT REUSE MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT UNLESS SPECIFICALLY INDICATED ON PLANS OR SPECIFIED. REMOVE FROM PREMISES AND DISPOSE OF ALL MATERIALS CONSIDERED BY THE OWNER TO BE SCRAP.

EXCEPT AS NOTED OTHERWISE DISCONNECT AND REMOVE EXISTING FIRE ALARM SYSTEM EQUIPMENT, DEVICES, MOUNTING HARDWARE AND ASSOCATIED RACEWAYS, CONDUCTORS AND OUTLET BOXES, WHERE OUTLET BOXES ARE FLUSH AND CONDUITS ARE CONCEALED IN EXISTING REMAINING WALLS, REMOVE WIRING AND ABANDON CONDUITS IN PLACE.

F. WHERE EXISTING WALL AND CEILINGS ARE TO REMAIN, PROVIDE BLANK COVER PLATES FOR OUTLETS WHERE EQUIPMENT OR DEVICES ARE REMOVED UNDER THIS CONTRACT. PRIME BLANK PLATES AND PAINT TO MATCH SURROUNDING AREA.

G. WHERE FIXTURES, EQUIPMENT, DEVICES, ETC. ARE SPECIFIED BY THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS FOR REMOVAL, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE ALL CIRCUIT CONDUCTORS/CABLING BACK TO THE NEAREST REMAINING POINT OF TERMINATION.

SCOPE OF WORK

DSA NOTES

1. PROVIDE A COMPLETE MANUAL AND AUTOMATIC ADDRESSABLE FIRE ALARM WITH VOICE-EVAC SYSTEM FOR LONG BEACH UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT CAMPUS. SYSTEM SHALL BE EXTENDED FROM THE EXISTING FIRE ALARM SYSTEM SERVING BUILDING C AUDITORIUM/CAFETERIA INSTALLED UNDER DSA A#03-119698 FOR THIS CAMPUS. PROVIDE DEVICES AS SHOWN IN THE DEVICE SCHEDULE, THE FLOOR PLANS, AND THE SPECIFICATIONS IN THIS CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENT SET.

2. WORK SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO: THE INSTALLATION AND TESTING OF THE CAMPUS FIRE ALARM SYSTEM AND REMOVAL OF THE EXISTING FIRE ALARM SYSTEM. REFER TO SEQUENCE OF OPERATIONS FOR MORE INFORMATION.

3. WHERE AN EXISTING REQUIRED FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM IS TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND FIRE CODE OFFICIAL SHALL BE NOTIFIED. THE OCCUPIED AREA(S) OF A BUILDING LEFT UNPROTECTED WHERE IMPAIRMENTS ARE MADE TO THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM SHALL BE EVACUATED OR PROVIDED WITH A FIRE WATCH FOR ALL OCCUPANTS UNTIL THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM HAS BEEN RETURNED TO NORMAL SERVICE.

4. UPON COMPLETION A COMPLETE PRETEST SHALL BE PERFORMED TO VERIFY FUNCTIONALITY. IF THE FUNCTIONALITY IS COMPLETE THEN THE PROPER DOCUMENTATION SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION PRIOR TO SCHEDULING A FINAL INSPECTION.

5. REFER TO HAZARDOUS MATERIALS REPORT FOR HAZARDOUS MATERIALS LOCATIONS AND ABATEMENT SPECIFICATIONS.

6. THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION SHALL BE PROVIDED TO THE OWNER UPON FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF THE SYSTEM:

A. OWNER'S MANUAL AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION COVERING ALL SYSTEM'S EQUIPMENT AND REQUIREMENTS.

B. RECORD SHOP DRAWINGS IN AUTOCAD FORMAT.

C. RECORD COPY OF SITE SPECIFIC SOFTWARE (FOR SOFTWARE BASED).

D. NFPA 72 RECORD OF COMPLETION DOCUMENTATION.

1. ALL WORK SHALL CONFORM TO TITLE 24 2016 CALIFORNIA CODE OF REGULATIONS (CCR).

2. CHANGES TO THE APPROVED DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS SHALL BE MADE BY AN ADDENDUM OR A CHANGE ORDER APPROVED BY THE DIVISION OF THE STATE ARCHITECT, AS REQUIRED BY SECTION 4-338, PART 1, TITLE 24, CCR.

3. A PROJECT INSPECTOR EMPLOYED BY THE DISTRICT (OWNER) AND APPROVED BY THE DIVISION OF THE STATE ARCHITECT SHALL PROVIDE CONTINUOUS INSPECTION OF THE WORK. THE DUTIES OF THE INSPECTOR ARE DEFINED IN SECTION 4-232, PART 1, TITLE 24, CCR.

4. THE INTENT OF THESE DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS IS THAT THE WORK OF THE ALTERATION,REHABILITATION, OR RECONSTRUCTION IS TO BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH TITLE 24, CCR. SHOULDANY EXISTING CONDITION, SUCH AS DETERIORATION OR NON-COMPLYING CONSTRUCTION BEDISCOVERED, WHICH IS NOT COVERED BY THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS WHEREIN THE FINISHEDWORK WILL NOT COMPLY WITH TITLE 24, CCR., A CONSTRUCTION CHANGE DOCUMENT (CCD), OR ASEPARATE SET OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, DETAILING AND SPECIFYING THE REQUIRED WORKSHALL BE SUBMITTED TO AND APPROVED BY DSA BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE WORK. (SECTION 4-317(C), PART 1, TITLE 24, CCR.).

5. A DSA CERTIFIED INSPECTOR WITH CLASS 3 CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED FOR THIS PROJECT.

6. AN INSPECTOR WHO IS SPECIALLY QUALIFIED IN MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL WORK WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THIS PROJECT.

7. CUTTING, BORING, SAWCUTTING, OR DRILLING THROUGH THE NEW OR EXISTING STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS TO BE DONE ONLY WHEN SO DETAILED IN THE DRAWINGS OR ACCEPTED BY THE ARCHITECT AND STRUCTURAL ENGINEER WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE DSA REPRESENTATIVE.

ALL MECHANICAL, PLUMBING, AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS SHALL BE ANCHORED AND INSTALLED PER THE DETAILS ON THE DSA APPROVED CONTRUCTION DOCUMENTS. THE FOLLOWING MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS SHALL BE POSITIVELY ATTACHED TO THE STRUCTURE, BUT THE ATTACHMENT NEED NOT BE DETAILED ON THE PLANS. THESE COMPONENTS SHALL HAVE FLEXIBLE CONNECTIONS PROVIDED BETWEEN THE COMPONENT AND ASSOCIEATED DUCTWORK, PIPING, AND CONDUIT.

A. COMPONENTS WEIGHING LESS THAN 400 POUNDS AND HAVE A CENTER OF MASS LOCATED 4 FEET OR LESS ABOVE THE ADJACENT FLOOR OR ROOF LEVEL THAT DIRECTLY SUPPORT THE COMPONENT.

B. COMPONENTS WEIGHING LESS THAN 20 POUNDS, OR IN THE CASE OF DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMS, LESS THAN 5 POUNDS PER FOOT, WHICH ARE SUPPORTED FROM A ROOF OR FLOOR OR HUNG FROM A WALL.

FOR THOSE ELEMENTS THAT DO NOT REQUIRE DETAILS ON THE APPROVED DRAWINGS, THE INSTALLATION SHALL BE SUBJECTED TO THE APPROVAL OF THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER OF RECORD AND THE DSA DISTRICT STRUCTURAL ENGINEER. THE PROJECT INSPECTOR WILL VERIFY THAT ALL COMPONENTS AND EQUIPMENT HAVE BEEN ANCHORED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS.
