In my opinion these teachers see technology in the classroom as a burden or a distractor rather than a helpful learning tool.

3. How can we move more teachers into Innovators or Early Adopters categories? 3.1. Chad

3.1.1. We can move more teachers into the innovator and adaptor category by giving more time to explore with technology

3.2. Lindsey3.2.1. One-on-one technology trainings, first outside of class and then during

class. Also, I think it would be extremely helpful to have onsite trainers. 3.3. Will

3.3.1. We can move teachers into the innovators or early adopters categories by helping them to see the use of the new technology and trying to build excitement around new technology as it is released.

3.4 Katie 3.4.1 Teachers can only use technology as an education tool if they know how

to use it. If we have hands-on teacher training where teachers can use the

different innovative technology mediums in their most basic form and then be shown examples of how they can be implemented into the classroom successfully, we may begin to move some teachers along the scale of

Innovation Adoption. 4. Identify your top 3 “major” motivators & explain

4.1. Engages students in learning in new and exciting ways4.1.1. Technology allows teachers to use things like videos, games or the

internet to learn and explore outside of the classroom 4.2. Lets me use my time more efficiently

4.2.1. Technology makes tasks such as attendance and recording grades quicker and more efficient, leaving more teaching time.

4.3. Promotes sound pedagogy-based teaching practices4.3.1. Technology creates new avenues for teachers to put teaching practices

into place in their classrooms that students may find visually and mentally stimulating.

5. MOTIVATORS- Identify your bottom 3 and justify5.1. There is technical support in my school to assist me

5.1.1. I would be willing to use technology regardless of if there was help or not. Which is good because in many cases the help is limited at best.

5.2. Improves my annual evaluation as a teacher5.3. Helps me manage large class enrollments

5.3.1. Technology can take a teachers focus off of the class when it is not working correctly. When this happens, larger class sizes would be harder to manage than smaller ones.

6. Identify important motivators that are not listed7. IMPEDING- Identify your top 3 “major” impediments & explain

7.1. Lack of support services to assist me7.1.1. Without support, teachers cannot be expected to use technology

successfully and/or efficiently. As teachers, we need to not only be able to use something but we need to be able to teach something.

7.2. Lack of time7.2.1. It is hard to try out new ideas when there is very little time to cover all

material needed as is. More time per chapter would allow for more experimenting with technology.

7.3. Lack of classroom computer equipment7.3.1. It is impossible to implement new technology in a classroom if the

students do not have it available to them.

8.1.1. Most younger teachers have grown up with computers and are much more technologically savvy than more mature teachers.

8.2. Lack of incentives and rewards8.2.1. As teachers, we are not looking to be rewarded for our performance or

use of technology. 8.3. I am intimidated by new technology

8.3.1. New technology is not frightening. It opens up new possibilities for learning in the classroom.

9. Identify important impediments that are not listed9.1. Steep learning curve for some students9.2. Resources

10. Identify your top 3 uses & explain how you would accomplish them10.1. Classroom Presentations

10.1.1. powerpoint and prezi presentations are more engaging and allow for a smoother more efficient flow of lecture so that there is less time spent lecturing and more time spent work with students

10.2. Communication with teachers parents and administrators10.2.1. Communication with teachers administrators and parents becomes

almost instantaneous when technology is put to use. 10.3. Word processing tool for student writing

10.3.1. Students are no longer taught handwriting, so we must teach them how to type. This is especially important if we want students to excel in this technological world.

11. Identify your bottom 3 and provide reasons 11.1. Creating & maintaining a class website or blog

11.1.1. We don’t see this tool being useful enough to make a priority. We see a website having more potential than a blog.

11.2. Internet as information mgmt. tool11.2.1. Uummmm what does this even mean?

11.3. Creating quizzes, tests, or other student assessments11.3.1. We feel that security would be an issue with online assessments. It opens

up the door for students to cheat in different ways.12. Identify important uses that are not listed

12.1. Apps used to replace tools such as levelers, thermometers or other measuring tools.

12.2. There are available websites that help accurately assess student performance on writing assignments.
