Last month construction crews were putting the finishing touches to the exterior of the new Feldstein’s location at1803 Condor Lane in Howard. The store is scheduled to open early in February.

Green Bay area. Throughout the years, the

business has taught the Fran-cois family to cherish cus-tomer’s special life occasions.“Jewelry is a celebration oflove,” says Scott. “and there’snothing more important inour store than those celebra-tions.” Feldstein’s specializesin birthdays, engagements, anniversaries, and the just be-cause gifts. The number onegoal of the sales team is tobuild relationships withclients. By building relation-ships the salespeople have theopportunity to learn abouteach client and find jewelrythat represents them. Know-ing about their clients makesthe memories more success-ful. The store mantra is “Thecustomer is always right.”

Feldstein’s growth stemsfrom the family’s involve-ment. “We have three chil-dren, one daughter and twosons. Our daughter, Kali, is athoroughbred-horse jockeyon the East Coast, and ourtwo sons, Mitch and Tommywork at the jewelry store.”says Julie Francois. “Mitchattended New Approach

School for Jewelry where heearned his Graduate BenchJeweler Program degree. Heis the head of our in-storeshop, with five goldsmithsunder him. Mitch is a CADoperator and, with our recentpurchase of a 3D printer, wedo everything in-house:CAD, printing, casting, andsetting. Tommy has earnedhis Graduate Gemologist de-gree from GIA in Carlsbad,CA. He has been workingwith us for three years andplays an integral part with ourclients.”

Education is also importantto the team. It keeps them up-to-date on the newest prod-ucts and is provided to everyemployee. Feldstein’s hastwo graduate gemologists andeight diamond gradersthrough the Gemological In-stitute of America, GIA.

“We are excited to get backto Green Bay,” says Scott,“and we look forward tobeing a jeweler they can trustwith their valuable pieces. This new store and our staffare a source of pride for us.We are forever ready to caterto your wishes.”

From the Howard-Suamico School Board

Howard-Suamico School District Referendum: April 3, 2018In early January, the

Howard-Suamico SchoolDistrict Board of Educationunanimously approved a res-

olution for an operational ref-erendum question to be

placed on the April 3, 2018ballot.

The referendum will ad-dress ongoing challenges fac-ing the District includingreducing class sizes, em-ployee compensation, and fa-cility maintenance. We arepresenting a referendumquestion which is responsiveto input from residents andstaff as well as the work ofthe Community Task Force.

How these referendumfunds will be used is outlinedbelow and has been deter-mined by ongoing dialogue, via personal meetings andmultiple surveys, betweenthe district and the Howard-Suamico community:

• Approximately one-halfof the referendum fundswould be used to hire 30classroom teachersphased in over two yearsin order to reduce classsizes in grades K-12across the District.

• A little over one-quarter

of the funds would beused to enhance staffcompensation and closethe gap with neighboringdistricts.

• The remainder of thefunds would be used toaddress facility mainte-nance needs identified inthe recent master facili-ties study.

For more detailed informa-tion on each of these items,we encourage you to visit thereferendum website atwww.hssd.k12.wi.us/referen-dum or contact a schoolboard member.

The journey to this pointbegan, in part, when Wiscon-sin imposed a state-wide rev-enue limit that restricts theamount of money a districtcan receive. Because of thislow revenue situation, ourDistrict receives considerablyless funding, $7 million lessin state per-pupil revenue lastyear alone, than the averageWisconsin school district.

In the face of these chal-lenges, the Board of Educa-tion remains fully committedto ensuring the district ishighly efficient, academicallyhonors every student andprovides taxpayers with asolid return on their invest-ment.

We encourage you to visitthe referendum website foradditional details on the in-formation above as well asanswers to Frequently AskedQuestions. Together, withyour support, we can over-come these financial chal-lenges and continue to ensurethat all of our students havethe knowledge and skills tosucceed.

Neck Pain and Office WorkA new study out of the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics indicates that 23 percent of

office workers report some form of neck pain and/or disability. Common factors that increase the incidence

of workplace neck pain/disability include:

• Previous history of neck pain/injury • Office chair and desk height

• Muscle tension in the shoulders/upper back • Sitting posture

Research has shown that chiropractic manipulation and massage therapy along with proper sitting postures are

effective strategies for treating neck and upper back pain related to office work. These conservative treatment

options also offer fewer side effects and longer lasting relief than most commonly prescribed pain

medications. Conservative treatment options at Howard Chiropractic Clinic, S.C. include:

• Chiropractic manipulation • Ultrasound therapy

• Massage therapy • Ergonomic and Postural analysis

• Active Release Techniques (ART) • Stretching and Postural exercises

If you suffer from neck pain and poor sitting posture contact the Howard Chiropractic Clinic, S.C. at

(920) 434 -2221 and schedule an appointment today.

Suamico United Methodist Church coordinated a group of volunteers to help with recovery efforts from the effectsof Hurricane Harvey in Texas.

Area church group helps withHurricane Harvey clean-up

Twenty-four individualstraveled to Orange, Texasover New Year’s week to helpthe community recover fromHurricane Harvey. Last year, from August 26th throughAugust 30th, Hurricane Har-vey sat over the area drop-ping heavy rain and causinggreat flooding. Seventy-eightpercent of the homes in thearea experienced damagefrom the storm and manyhome owners did not haveflood insurance. The groupwas part of the Volunteers inMission (VIM) program ofthe United Methodist churchand participants were fromaround the State of Wisconsinranging in age from 17 to 70.The trip was coordinated bySuamico United MethodistChurch.

Working in smaller groups, the teams helped to removewater-soaked drywall, insula-tion, cabinetry, and carpet. Some of the team helped toreplace and mud drywall inhomes where the damageditems had already been re-moved. Painting was done

and entry steps which hadfloated away in the rain wa-ters were restored. Doorswere hung and trim was re-placed. Six different familiesreceived services from thisteam alone during the weekincluding a 93 1/2 year oldWWII veteran. One of thehomes receiving repairs had36" of flood waters at thetime of the storm. Homeowners were very apprecia-tive of the work of the teamsand often worked alongsidethe team. It felt good tobring hope to the affectedfamilies.

The team enjoyed workingtogether with teams fromother area of the country in-cluding Ohio, Minnesota, In-diana, and Texas. Dorm stylehousing was provided by anarea church who opened theirbuilding to house multipleteams of volunteers fromaround the country on an on-going basis. Cost savings forthe local homeowners fromthe work of the Wisconsingroup alone was estimated atover $15,000.

Be friendlyto theenvironmentwhen carpetcleaning

The vacuum just doesn’tseem to work anymore. Thekids and the dog have trackedenough dirt into the house toplant a garden. So you decideit’s time to clean the carpets. If you clean your own carpet,be sure to filter the dirty washwater to avoid clogging pipes. If it doesn’t contain haz-ardous material, the filteredmaterial can be placed in thegarbage. Then discharge thewash water into a toilet, sinkor other drain connected tothe sanitary sewer.

Check the labels on thecleaning fluid. The word“non-toxic” means it’s nottoxic to the user. The word“biodegradable” means theproduct will eventually breakdown. Such products can stillharm wildlife if they enter astorm drain, ditch, or other-wise enter the environment.

If you hire a professionalcarpet cleaner, talk with themto be sure they follow thesame steps. Wash watershould never be dischargedinto a street, gutter, parkinglot, storm drain, ditch or oth-erwise into the environment.
