The former North Carolina Tar Heel iscoming off of his 2nd-shortest outing of the season, 2.2 IP, August 28 at Mississippi,walking a season-high 7 and failing to strikeout a batter for the rst time this season,suffering the loss. Johnson ranks 10th in the league with a 3.61 ERA and 2nd in op -ponents’ average, .217. In Johnson’s lone start vs. Tennessee, he earned the win with5.2 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 5 H, 5 BB, 3 SO on July 9 at Smokies Stadium. The southpaw wasMilwaukee’s 14th round selection in 2013.

    • SHUCKERS TAKE SEASON-SERIES OVER M-BRAVES WITH COMEBACK WIN: • The Shuckers climbed out of a 4-1 hole to beat the Mississippi Braves at TrustmarkPark Tuesday night, 5-4, riding the franchise-best 5-for-5 performance from 1B GarrettCooper . The former Auburn Tiger capped a 4-run 7th inning with a 2-run double to left.• The Shuckers won 2 of 5 in the series, but clinched the inaugural Magnolia Stateseason-series, 12-11.• Starter Tyler Wagner  (ND) turned in his shortest outing as a Shucker, 4.0 IP, 4 H,3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO while relievers Brooks Hall (W, 8-8, 2.0 IP, 3 H, R, ER, SO),Jacob Barnes (1.0 IP, BB, 2 SO) and Damien Magnico (S, 18, 2.0 IP, 2 H, BB, 2SO) nished off the nal 5 innings, allowing just a single run.• SS Orlando Arcia (3x5, R, 2 RBI) and CF  Tyrone Taylor  (3x5, RBI) had multi-hitperformances in the 14-hit offensive outburst that included 12 singles.

    • SL PITCHER OF THE WEEK: On Monday, RHP Adrian Houser earned SouthernLeague Pitcher of the Week honors after earning his 4th-straight win in as many startson Sunday, lowering his ERA to 1.80 (7 ER/35.0 IP), 30 SO, 4 BB. To top it off, hewent 2-for-3 with a run and a double at the plate Sunday. Last week, Houser went 2-0in 2 starts and did not allow a run in 13 innings. Overall, he has not allowed a run inhis last 15.1 innings.

    • COOOOOOP OFF TO A BLAZING START: Garrett Cooper  collected a single gamefranchise record 5 hits Tuesday. The Auburn, AL native nished 5-for-5 with a 2B, 3Band 2 RBI. Cooper has safely hit in all 4 games with Biloxi, going 11-for-16 (.688 AVG)with a 2B, 3B, 4 RBI and 2 BB in that span. Overall in 123 games between Brevardand Biloxi he is batting .308, 33 2B, 3 3B, 8 HR, 58 RBI and .370 OBP.

    • SHUCKERS DOMINATE LEAGUE YEAR-EN D AWARDS: The Southern League an-nounced that Biloxi starting pitcher RHP Jorge Lopez the league’s Most Outstanding Pitcheron Thursday as well as Carlos Subero, the league’s top manager. SS Orlando Arcia and

    Lopez were each named Southern League Postseason All-Stars. Lopez is 12-5 with a 2.29ERA (137.2 IP, 35 ER) with 50 walks and 134 strikeouts. He has posted a 7-3 record with a1.68 ERA (75 IP/14 ER) with 24 walks and 76 strikeouts in the second half. Subero is takinghis 4th Southern League club to the postseason and now has 873 managerial victories.

    BY THE NUMBERS: 5 games remaining in the regular season and 2.5 games outof 1st place in the South Division...are 27-18 in 1-run games (.600, T-1st in SL)...14-13 in shutout games...55-14 (.797, 2nd in SL) when scoring rst...10-5 (.667, 1st inSL) in extra-innings...8-6 in doubleheader games and nished August 16-14 (.533) in August, batting .237 and boasted a 2.82 ERA (1st in SL).

    • SMOKIES FIRST VISIT TO MGM PARK:  The Chicago Cubs’ afliate TennesseeSmokies become the 7th Southern League team to make their rst visit to Biloxi. OnlyBirmingham and Jacksonville have not. The Shuckers are 3-2 against the Smokiesand 16-12 against teams from the Volunteer State.

    • 55 QUALITY STARTS IN 2015, 12 OVER LAST 21 GAMES: Starters, Jorge Lo-pez, Adrian Houser , Josh Hader , Tyler Wagner Hobbs Johnson and Brooks Hall have allowed just 22 ER in 106.0 IP, a 1.87 ERA, notching 99 SO to 42 BB. Biloxipitching leads the league in ERA (3.20), WHIP (1.24) and 2nd in SO (1,045).

    • DIVISION DOMINANCE: The Shuckers are 50-35 (.588) against South Divisionopponents and 26-21 against opponents from the North.

    WHO ARE THE SHUCKERS?: Formerly the Huntsville Stars, the new Biloxi professional baseball team re-vealed the new identity on November 24, 2014, as the Biloxi Shuckers took center stage during a ceremonyinside Biloxi’s historic Saenger Theatre. The team name was selected after nearly 60,000 votes were castafter the month-long “Name the Team” contest yielded six finalists. A tenacious oyster is the centerpiece ofthe identity, seen both in the club’s primary logo, home and alternate caps. The letters “BS” to make up theroad cap designation - the Biloxi Lighthouse logo, resiliently rising above historic storm waters. Gulf Blue,Sand, Coral, and Black make up the club’s new official colors, paying tribute to the Gulf Coast.     BILOXI BASEBALL HISTORY: Pro baseball is not totally new to the Gulf Coast, but it is the rst since 1908. TheGulfport-Biloxi Sand Crabs of the Cotton States League played half a season in Biloxi during the summer of 1908.Many Major League and som Minor League teams held spring traing in the area. Even the 1920 Milwaukee Brewersof the American Association (direct descendant of the current Brewers) trained in Gulfport. See below.

    oday’s Start:  24-year-old Hobbs Johnson makes his 24th start of the 2015 season in the opener ofve-game set against the Tennessee Smokies. The North Carolina alum has recorded just three qualityarts this season, but has allowed more than three earned runs just four times in 2015.
