FE Heater Test at Mont Terri Objectives, Tasks and Status
Modeling Mont Terri FE Experiment (Currently 6 international modeling teams; different group from DECOVALEX)
UFD objectives for participating include to develop expertise and test advanced models on coupled THM processes in clay-based backfill in interaction with clay host rock at full scale
Benchmark modeling of experiment with comparison to the results of international modeling teams (Completed, April 2014)
Model prediction and design of experiment (Preliminary prediction and modeling for heat power design, completed 2015)
Mont Terri Full-scale Emplacement (FE) Experiment is undertaken by NAGRA and other partners as an ultimate test for the performance of geologic disposal in Opalinus Clay, with focus on both the EBS components and the host-rock behavior; it will be one of the largest and longest running heater tests worldwide.

Status and Next Steps
The FE experiment is running well and data for 1st year have been delivered to modeling teams
Interpretative modeling of field data over 1 year
Next Mont Terri FE heater test modeling meeting in November 2016
Opportunity for applying dual-structure (BExM) model in collaboration with the Barcelona group
The extensive monitoring of mechanics (stress and strain) within the buffer will be very important for validation of mechanical constitutive models
