EDITORIAL

Dear Business Friends,

Dear Colleagues,

GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE is a term that has been

synonymous with Jet Aviation since the company

was established by the late Carl W. Hirschmann in

1967 in Basel, Switzerland. He realized that global

expansion was the key to offering our customers

peace of mind when traveling to other continents.

His vision was to establish a network of locations

around the globe that ensured our clients of the same

consistent, dependable, service wherever and whenever

they traveled.

Mr. Hirschmann’s idea is more important today than

ever before. With current aviation capability,

one can reach any destination across the

globe in less than a day. Our customers,

private individuals and corporations of

every magnitude, have wide-ranging

needs to extend their reach across the

globe and establish important footholds

in new marketplaces. To accommodate

their requirements, we have established a

strong presence in Europe, the Middle and

Far East and the United States where we provide

comprehensive business aviation services on a

domestic and international basis.

As world markets continue to evolve, our Board of

Directors and Group Management have reiterated

our commitment to maintaining Jet Aviation’s Global

Perspective and expanding our international presence.

So, whether one owns an aircraft or charters,

Jet Aviation intends to be there, around the world,

offering premier, unsurpassed service and support.

By listening carefully to our customers, we have made

some important decisions regarding our global

expansion. For example, we recently began construction

of our new maintenance and FBO facility at the

International Airport in Dubai, United Arab

Emirates, and we plan to open another full-service

facility at the Congonhas Airport in Sao Paulo, Brazil

later this year. These additions to Jet Aviation’s global

network will allow our customers to receive the same,

high-level service at these new destinations that we

are known for elsewhere around the world.

Despite the global political challenges that our world

is facing, it is our strong belief that we, as a company,

can make an important difference. Our experience on

five continents has enlightened us regarding cultural

differences and it gives me pleasure to know that

Jet Aviation has truly become a multi-national

organization with a clear understanding of local

cultures, issues, differences and needs.

By following the vision of our founder and our

philosophy of GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE, we are

confident that we will continue to move forward by

serving customers from all cultures across the globe.

Our ultimate goal is to enable our clients to

accomplish their missions as effectively,

efficiently and as comfortably as possible,

so no matter where you are, you can

count on Jet Aviation’s global network

and our dedication to span all borders

and cultures with ease.

Sincerely yours,

Heinz KöhliChief Executive Officer

Struck by a service truck on the airfield, a

Challenger 604 sustained substantial damage to the

lower right-hand side of its fuselage structure and

was in need of a skin replacement.

In accordance to Bombardier’s requirements, Jet Aviation

Basel’s technicians manufactured shoring equipment

to prevent any movement of the aircraft during the

painstaking skin replacement. First, the right-hand

engine, pylon and saddle tank structure were

disassembled. Next, the damaged section was

removed and a new custom-made skin panel was

carefully installed, riveted, sealed and repainted.

While work was underway, the aircraft also underwent

a 60-month maintenance inspection, avionics

upgrade, a 3200-hour check and a hot-section

inspection of both engines. In addition, new carpeting

was installed and four seats were re-upholstered.

According to Rainer Albecker, senior vice president

and general manager of Jet Aviation Basel, technicians

acted swiftly to get the Challenger 604 back into

service. “Jet Aviation Basel's in-house engineering

capabilities helped to speed up the skin replacement

process so that the aircraft could be delivered to the

customer with a minimum of downtime,” said Albecker.

Federal Aviation

Administration (FAA)

mandates often pose a

formidable challenge

for aircraft owners.

Three Jet Aviation

U.S. facilities – Boston/

Bedford, MA; Dallas,

TX; and Palm Beach,

FL hold Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) to

assist with compliance.

Jet Aviation Palm Beach, a Dassault Falcon Service

Center, received its STC for installation of the

Honeywell Mark VIII EGPWS on Gulfstream II

and III aircraft. Installation is relatively simple,

according to Avionics Manager Brian Wilson;

and often the interface can be done with

existing equipment.

Working with a January 20, 2005 deadline for

RVSM, Jet Aviation Palm Beach also recently

modified five Falcon aircraft. “We can assist Falcon

10/100/20/50 aircraft for RVSM needs,” says Wilson.

As an FAA Certified Repair Station, and authorized

service center for Raytheon aircraft, Jet Aviation

Boston/Bedford provides EGPWS, IHAS and RVSM

modifications for Hawker 800XP and 400 XP aircraft.

Jet Aviation Dallas – a Factory-Authorized Cessna

Citation Service Center, has performed a series

of RVSM, TAWS and EGPWS installations on

Citation 500s, 525s, 560s and 650s. With

deadlines for RVSM and TAWS rapidly approaching,

Thomas Rimml, senior vice president Jet Aviation

Dallas, urges owners to

schedule their aircraft for

maintenance as soon as

possible. “The certification

process alone takes several

months, advanced planning

will prevent you from

being restricted after the

deadline,” he says.

A Citation II heavily damaged

by hail underwent extensive

repair at Jet Aviation Saarbrucken

in Germany. During the

landing approach to Amsterdam

Airport, the aircraft entered a

hailstorm at an altitude of

10,000 feet at a speed of 250 knots. In a matter of

15 seconds, the hail stones – the size of tennis balls

– damaged major parts of the aircraft. The radome was

completely shattered, the wing tips, antennas and pitot

tube were heavily damaged and the avionics systems

were covered with kevlar frazzles.

The aircraft was first prepared for ferry-flight to

Saarbrucken – new radome and avionics components

were installed and the airfoil selection was temporarily

repaired. After systems were tested and approvals from

aviation authorities in both Germany and the

Netherlands were received, the Citation II was flown

to the Saarbrucken facility.

In Saarbrucken, the damage was more

thoroughly examined. Leading edges of the wings,

wing tips and the horizontal and vertical stabilizers

were replaced as well as engine air intakes. New

baggage compartment

doors were installed

and major parts of the

upper nose section

re-skinned. The repair

was topped off with

a cabin refurbishment

and new exterior paint,

completed at Jet Aviation

London Biggin Hill.

“The project involved extensive engineering,

done in close cooperation with Cessna Aircraft

Company. The entire repair process took close to six

months and involved over 3,000 man-hours,”

says Markus Lehmann, station manager at

Jet Aviation Saarbrucken.

After reconfiguring a head-of-state

Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) last year

to the full satisfaction of the client

– Jet Aviation Basel was entrusted

once again, by the same customer,

for another BBJ completions

project – the ninth completed by

the facility.

The completions project for the green BBJ began with

a full exterior paint job designed to match the customer’s

first BBJ and was then outfitted with a head-of-state

executive interior configured to seat up to 44 passengers

and five crewmembers. The aircraft includes first-class

seating; forward and aft club seating and a forward

lounge with two berthable, three-person fabric divans.

Galleys and lavatories were installed in the front and

aft sections, as well as a forward crew rest area.

“The cabin design features geometrical shapes and

patterns with lines and squares,” says Eric Jan, interior

design manager at Jet Aviation Basel. “Blue-patterned

fabric and leather armrests garnish the seats in the

club area and the first-class section has an airline

configuration with two rows of blue fabric seats on

each side of the aisle.”

The BBJ’s cockpit and cabin were equipped with the

latest communications and entertainment devices. The

lounge, forward and aft club seating areas were also

equipped with two 22” monitors in each section and

the first class area has five 8.6" drop-down monitors

and two 8.4” wall monitors.

JET AVIATION LONDON BIGGIN HILL CHOSEN FOR HAWKER 700 REFURBISHMENT PROJECT

More and more, Jet Aviation’s London Biggin Hill

maintenance and FBO facility is involved in

refurbishment projects – helping the location to

develop its reputation as

a full-service business

aviation center. After

performing a pre-buy

inspection on a Hawker

700 – the facility also

won a competitive bid to

refurbish the aircraft.

The project included new

carpet throughout the

cabin, galley and cockpit

areas; re-conditioning of

all the leather passenger

seats, curtain replacement

and gold plating on the

passenger cup holders. Sidewalls, baggage storage

areas and forward wardrobes were recovered in

new fabrics and the flight-deck instrument

panel fascia was replaced and the wood veneer

touched-up – the project was finished with a

partial paint job.

“The customer was very satisfied with the

quality of the new cabin interior. Our in-house

capabilities – engineering, cabinetry, upholstery,

sheet metal and painting, saved us valuable time

with the overall project,” says Stephan Koss,

senior vice president and general manager of

Jet Aviation London Biggin Hill.

Additionally, maintenance was performed and

included a 300-hour engine inspection, A and E

inspections and the removal, overhaul and

reinstallation of three starter generators.

FALCON 20 REFURBISHED WITH ECOLOGICAL EVERGLADES THEME

The Everglades, a veritable tropical oasis, located in

South Florida, was the theme of a recent refurbishment

on a Falcon 20 at Jet Aviation Palm Beach. Designer

David Bell and a team of Jet Aviation interior artisans

transformed the aircraft’s cabin, on behalf of a repeat

customer, into an exotic, ecological work of art.

“One of our objectives,” says

James Harrison, manager of

interiors/completions at Jet

Aviation Palm Beach, “was

to create more leg room

for continental flight.”

Condensing the galley and

forward baggage compartment and installing

new maple burl cabinets with rounded edges

accomplished this.

As one boards the Falcon 20, which now seats up to

nine passengers, the aircraft’s new tropical motif

is apparent. Alligators

and turtles decorate

carpeting in the main

isle, a Florida panther

peeks out of the grass

at the base of the

baggage cabinet, and

even a grassy design is

incorporated in the

step area. The cabin

walls are wicker rattan and brown and beige leather

seats, sporting star-embossed cushions now deploy

maple burl game-tables that look like elegant jewelry

boxes when stowed.

Other modifications include electric louver

shades and flat screen monitors on all four

bulkheads, a divan in custom chenille, a wind line

in leaf-embossed silk, an aft lavatory decorated in

silk material patterned with dragonflies.

Aircraft maintenance, repair and outfitting are tasks

best left to highly skilled professionals, which is why

so many aircraft owners, operators and technicians

rely on the expertise of Jet Aviation Engineering

Services L.P. (JAES). Established in 2001, JAES

provides engineering and certification services to

repair stations, modification centers and OEMs.

Based near San Antonio, Texas, a 30-person corps

of engineering specialists perform modification

work on a wide range of small to large-sized

aircraft. Working from conceptual ideas, the

engineering staff creates solutions ranging from small

modifications like an antenna or avionics installations,

to more extensive alterations of primary structures

– such as airframes, winglets, and tails – to yet even

more complex projects involving air, water, and

oxygen systems.

Once designs are created, engineers perform the

analysis and physical testing required by industry

airworthiness guidelines. In-house FAA designated

engineering and airworthiness representatives

obtain the appropriate approvals for modifications

through Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs).

“An STC is like a patent that can be used on a

specific aircraft type over and over again,” says

Michael Girps, senior vice president and general

manager Jet Aviation Engineering Services. ”Our

certification staff also provides field approval

assistance, PMA support, and import/export services.”

“Our focus is to make our knowledge and expertise

available to the industry,” says Michael Girps.

“Our goal is to meet the program requirements in a

demanding environment and to provide engineering

services our customers can count on.”

What began in late

2003 as a project to

better serve Jet Aviation’s

Dallas customers – has

now been successfully

completed. The extended

ramp can now hold

twice as many aircraft

and the FBO offers every

customer comfort possible.

“By extending the length and width of the ramp,

we will now be able to accommodate bigger

aircraft like Gulfstream, Challenger, Falcon and

Global Express as well as a larger number of small

and mid-sized jets currently serviced at this

facility. The new ramp also offers a second entry

and exit point to the taxiways,” says Thomas

Rimml, Senior Vice President and General

Manager of Jet Aviation, Dallas.

Renovations to the terminal building included

redesigning the customer lounge; a full-scale

multi-media conference room, expanded

flight-planning capabilities, high-speed, Wi-Fi

Internet access, and a new pilot’s lounge.

New customer lounge furnishings are adorned

in mustard yellow leather-style fabrics and the

walls are in light shades of gray with a charcoal

gray fabric accent wall.

PALM BEACH HOSTS NBAA REGIONAL FORUM

The NBAA chose Jet Aviation to host its first

South Florida Regional Forum at Palm Beach

International Airport on March 10th. The daylong

learning and networking experience featured nearly

40 aircraft on static display, over 60 exhibits and a

number of seminars and briefings for the regional

business aviation community. “This was a great

opportunity for us to showcase our services and

capabilities to the aviation community,” said

Norbert Ehrich, senior vice president and general

manager of Jet Aviation Palm Beach.

Guests numbered over 1,200 and were treated to

a catered breakfast and lunch set-up in one of the

hangars that could have passed for a dining room

in any restaurant. According to Suzanne Cole,

senior manager forums and static displays for

NBAA, the event was a complete success.

“Jet Aviation was

a very professional

partner in promoting

our event to the

After reporting a record nineteen aircraft sold

in 2003, executives in Jet Aviation’s Aircraft

Sales Division see further signs of a robust

recovery in the market. While conditions remain

rewarding for buyers in general – sellers too

have expressed better than anticipated results.

In the pre-owned aircraft segment, demand

continues to be persistent for Challenger 604,

Falcon 900EX/900B, and Gulfstream V/IV-SP

aircraft, where supply has suddenly become limited.

“The overall interest in aircraft ownership has

definitely strengthened which is also reflected in

the reporting of orders taken for new aircraft

since the last quarter of 2003,” says Walt Wakefield,

vice president of aircraft sales at Jet Aviation.

In the Far East,

Jet Aviation has

added another

Global Express to

its management

fleet. The Singapore-based aircraft is the second of

that type in the region. “We see encouraging signs of

an improved economy in Asia, which is reflected in

the demand for new business aircraft and management

services,” reports Jürg Reuthinger, senior vice

president and general manager for Jet Aviation’s

aircraft management division in Europe, Middle &

Far East and South America. A Boeing 727, a Falcon

2000EX, an Embraer Legacy, a Hawker 800B and

two Gulfstreams – a G550 and GV are also either

under new full-management or flight support

agreements and are based in Europe.

Five aircraft that have joined Jet Aviation’s management

services in the U.S. are also available for charter and

include a Falcon 2000EX based in Teterboro, NJ, a

Falcon 2000 and Citation XL based in Chicago, IL,

and a Gulfstream 400, based in Palm Beach, FL. Two

more aircraft, a Falcon 20-5 based in Dallas, TX, and

a Challenger 604, based in Teterboro, NJ were also

added to the fleet, which brings Jet Aviation’s

worldwide management fleet to more than 160 aircraft.

Maintaining an aircraft can be a costly undertaking.

But what if you could offset some of the fixed costs

associated with your annual flight-operating budget

and still maintain control of your aircraft?

Jet Aviation offers a bona fide solution that generates

revenue by creating a partnership with aircraft owners

or their flight department. Under Jet Aviation’s charter

affiliation, the aircraft becomes available for charter

– allowing partners the likelihood to offset their

operating budget – while maintaining control of

their asset. The program is flexible, offering the

opportunity to pick and choose when and where to

participate, and designated pilots can even do the

flying. Jet Aviation coordinates all the details and

instead of remaining idle, the aircraft produces

revenue – wherever it is based.

In addition, as one of the largest purchasers of

aviation services, Jet Aviation enjoys extraordinary

discounts, which are shared with charter partners

whenever and wherever possible. Whether the need

is insurance, fuel, hangarage, maintenance or

refurbishing – Jet Aviation’s allies gain significant

economies through their affiliation.

The process to certify most aircraft types is relatively

simple, so the transition to this new service is

straightforward. According to Steve Wilson, senior

vice president and general manager of Jet Aviation’s

charter services, there is currently high demand for

mid-sized and small-cabin aircraft. “Because we are

one of the largest charter operators in the world,

aircraft owners can realize immediate benefits from

our partnership program,“ says Wilson.
