WPS Stops to Remember
Friday 9th November 2012
Newsletter
Today we asked the WPS to think about the men and
women who have lost their lives serving our country.
In keeping with tradition, the girls from Kindergarten to F6
and all members of staff stopped at 11am this morning to
hold a two minute silence at the end of playtime. All of the
girls and staff have been asked to wear a poppy today as a
mark of respect for those men and women who have lost
their lives whilst serving their country.
Thank you to Amy A in Form 6 for playing ‘The Last Post’
on her violin, together with Mrs Rundell. Thank you also
to Maggie in Form 2 who provided the lovely poppy draw-
ing for the posters that have been on display in School this
week.
Congratulations to Zahra, Ashlea, Lily, Holly, Amelia, Zara
and Isobel for being this week’s Stars. Well done for all of
your hard work.
Stars of the Week Children in Need
Lunchtime Supervisors’ Awards Congratulations to Ameerah and Laura in Reception and Zara in Form 1. They are the first girls in the School to complete
their Awards Cards and have won tokens for their respective Houses. The girls are awarded stickers for manners, finish-
ing their food and trying new foods, amongst other things.
As you may have read in last week’s Newsletter, we are
looking forward to Children in Need Day next Friday.
The girls should still come in uniform but may add a
spotty accessory, bandana or headband for a £1 donation.
Please make sure that if your daughter takes part she
brings her donation with her on Friday morning.
From Monday, they can also bring in their entries for the
Pudsey Portrait competition. Please make sure that each
entry has your daughter’s name and form on the back.
Entries should be left at the office together with a dona-
tion of £1. We will display entries in the Entrance Hall
from Monday onwards—Friday is the closing date for this
competition.
Finally, wristbands will be on sale in the playground for
£1 each. Due to limited numbers, they will be sold on a
first come, first served basis, starting with the Juniors.

U11 Netball v Bridgewater
Report by Safah and Grace
(Safah) On Wednesday 7th November 2012, we played a
netball game against Bridgewater. In the first quarter
Lucy scored three phenomenal goals. Zahra gave her best
effort but her goal did not go in; however we were still in
the lead. In the second quarter we scored one excellent
goal by Emilia.
In the third quarter we tried to score but narrowly missed
and Bridgewater were soon in the running again, scoring
one goal.
(Grace) In the fourth quarter, we scored two goals, one
goal by Safah and one by Grace. But then Bridgewater
came back with two goals. The final score was 6-3 to us.
Thank you to Miss McBride and Mrs Broome for support-
ing us and to our excellent team for giving their best.
Hockey Match Cancellation - Change of
Arrangements
Next week’s hockey match v Greenbank has been can-
celled. Instead, Miss McBride is organising an additional
hockey practice at Wilmslow Hockey Club.
The Form 5 & 6 girls who would usually attend sports
club will travel to Wilmslow Hockey Club by minibus
after School and can be collected from School at 5pm.
Miss McBride has asked the Junior girls to make sure that
they have the proper protective equipment for PE lessons.
This means that in addition to their usual kit they will also
need a gum shield (available from Mrs Penn for £2),
hockey shin pads and green knee high hockey socks.
These items should be available from Monkhouse, or any
good sports shop. Please let Mrs Penn know if you are
having problems locating any items.
