t is with great pleasure to be working with the Family Affair Sale Group in this Ithe 1st Annual Bull & Female Sale. The consignors: Black Hills Angus/Bidwell Farms, Family Ties Angus, Selte Cattle Co., and Goad Family Angus approached OBI with an idea last fall and we finally got a date and the group made the decision that this was the right thing to do and we agreed with them. The inaugural sale always creates excitement in the area with neighbors, purebred buddies and cattlemen to see what these 4 consignors will bring to town. So please do check this sale out this year. The bull offering from the consignors include sires bloodlines like Pioneer, Tiger, Net Worth, Final Answer, Salt Creek Bob and Sakic all primarily calving ease legends. As you go through the offering is does show that, great birth weights with explosive weaning weights. The EPD's also are second to none as these breeders will purchase and raise herd bulls that not only enhance their program but the figures as well. Another great marketing tool offered by these cattlemen. We also have 10 top end open Angus heifers from Family Ties Angus and Goad Family Angus. They are the type of females that you can start a very strong cow family from or take down the show road for a junior member. lack Hills Angus and Bidwell Angus operate off the same farm site.They are Bfamily run cattle operations committed to raising quality Black Angus livestock. We have been involved in the cattle business since my grandfather, Mike Stachniak, purchased the farm in the forties. We moved into purebred Angus cattle 10 years ago and have been tirelessly trying to improve our herd since. We are having our first annual bull sale this year at Bar-B Cattle Station north of Dewberry and are very excited to see the results. We have always molded our herd to maintain EPD's reflecting low birth weights, high gains and good milk. Our focus also includes quality feed and maternal health. We use A.I., quality herd bulls, and purchase animals from other breeders that fit our program to give us what we feel are strong animals and we, of course, are not afraid to cull. An absolute tank that began life at 83lbs. A deep sided, square hind quartered, large testicled bull with tonnes of hair. A very impressive animal, I absolutely love him. He will stand out in any bull pen.

Another great looking Pioneer bull off of a proven dam. He will provide a lean muscular looking animal with high milk. His dam, 4083P, is a granddaughter of the great Sitz Traveler 8180 who also produced Net Worth and Final Answer.

64A has a sturdy, muscular yet moderate frame. He is wide topped, has thick legs and should work well on cows or heifers.

amily Ties Angus focuses their herd on good strong traits that will work in all cattle farms and help too Fimprove the herd they will work for. Achieving this is done by tight guidelines on BW, WW, maternal instinct and making the feed put into the animals do the work. We call our calves very hard at birth and again at weaning time, ensuring that only the bulls that will do the job remain on the farm. We pay close attention to hair coat, feet, testicular size and frame size on the animals we sell. If the bull wouldn't work in our herd, we don't want it in someone else's.We have been born and raised around cattle and started raising purebreds about 8 years ago. We have slowly increased our herd to 80 purebred cows, by careful selection of replacement heifers and some herd dispersal buys. We bought Gordon Braithwaite's herd in December of 2011 and in May of 2013 we bought Gord Rattrays herd of black cows. This has given us some great bloodlines and cows that have proven themselves to be great mothers and raise champion bulls. We purchased Standard Hill Yahoo 40Y for $10,000 as the high selling bull at the 2012 Standard Hill sale. One look at his offspring and you can see the stamp he leaves on all his calves. Showing interest in purebred Angus cattle as a teenager Ian started his herd. We then strengthened our base by acquiring half of the Spring Creek Red Angus herd of Bernard Boeckmann's. This, allowed us then to focus on bull power because we could take advantage of utilizing an already established herd. With advancements taking place using AI sires, bringing power up from across the border and eventually the ultimate goal of being able to use our own home raised bulls in herd. Here at Selte Cattle Co. we strive to produce heifer bulls with more natural thickness, muscling, and depth. We also take note of new born calf vigor. We need calves that will get up and suck whether it is snowing, cold or raining and so do you.Our bulls were backgrounded on straight silage until December 10th. We then added grain by a total mixed ration. We like to background the calves to allow them to develop structurally before we start putting flesh on. This allows the bull to have increased longevity in the breeding pastures.

Brandy is a heifer that we feel is going to be a phenominal mother cow. Her dam is the ideal young mother cow, she is moderate in frame and has a perfect udder to her. I feel that with the combination of Tequila in the pedigree, this will make Brandy an even sweeter heifer than her mom, her udder should be picture perfect and will raise those replacement females you wanna keep each year. Take advantage of these maternal females to produce heifer calves that will be in the keeper pen each year.

I truly wish that we had more of these Tequila females in our herd, they are turning into great females that are all laying down a perfect udder and are excellent momma cows. The dam of Lucy is another ideal young mother cow, with a great udder. She is pretty much identical to the dam of 143A, the only difference to pick them apart is that she has a shorter ear. t is with great excitement that we bring to you the 1st Annual Family Affairs Bull and Select Female Sale. Cattle prices are at Ian all time high, grain prices are at a low from previous years, cattle are in high demand with the low global numbers, it is one of the most exciting times in the cattle industry and the future and optimism of the future is looking very bright and exciting as we see it. Also the added excitement to this sale is it being held at the Bar B Cattle Station north of Dewberry, this is a great facility that has not been used to the full extent the last few years, it is exciting for us to be able to hold the first sale in this great building in quite some time. We are bringing to the sale this year, 5 purebred Red Angus females, that we feel will have a lot of potential for there new owners. They are sired by some of the most exciting sires that we have used in the past years. Miss is only a Mar 6 heifer calf, but she has the most performance of the group. 119A was a twin to another heifer calf and were both raised on their mom all year. You look over the top of her and she has a huge hip to her with a big spring of rib. 119A fits right into the type of females that we are trying to strive for, we like to see that muscle carry deep into their quarter and flank with performance, well maintaining a strong feet and leg set under them. 119A is from the same cow family of the Cruise 139A bull that we have exhibited all fall, and he has gained alot of interest in him, he was purchased by Nielson Land and Cattle, we think that he will make a impact of this super strong herd of Larry's.

Bobbie is the youngest in our group of heifers she is only an April 5 calf. When we were picking heifers for this sale we wanted to have a strong offering from our Freemont bull. When we purchased him he was a feature sire from Ter-ron, he was selected for his huge performance, the tons of hair that he had, and also the strong/correct foot that he had. From the first calf crop we are seeing that he is passing all of these strong qualities to each one of his calves. Bobbie will be the ideal brood cow, she will pass performance into each one of her calves.

In May 2013 we bought Gord Rattray's herd and this is one of the female calves that was at side. She come from GGRR Bob 1Y which goes back to Salt Creek Bob. She is a heavy duty heifer with lots of volume and frame. A very feminine head and good feet and body coat. Will make a great cow one day.

Another one of the daughters out of Standard Hill Yahoo 40Y, a Tiger son, this daughter has all the looks. A pretty little feminine head followed by a lots of depth and power. She is well footed and can really get out there and move. She will be a great addition to any herd.

Here is one of our first females out of the $10,000 dollar Standard Hill Yahoo, Tiger son, we bought in 2012. The females are very feminine with lots of power and muscle to make them strong well built cows. 50A is as pretty as they make them and will be a great mother.

Comes from a Bowerman cow that has never failed me, comes in calf every year and produces me one of the biggest weaning calves in the fall. Her sire is the CBK 15X son who makes great well built females. If your looking for big strong females with good leg and feet then add 10A to your herd for production and power.
