CHURCH COVENANT

Having been brought, , as we humbly trust, by divine g1·ace to c:nbl<lCthe Lord Jesus Christ is our Savior. and having obtained justific=:ttion by

faith in his name, we as members of the Free Will Baptist ChuTch at _____ _ ..

-· ----- _____ . agree: These men are gone to be with God. Listed by W. D. Mat-tin.

1. To watch over each other in love, to pray for each other as mem · hers of common faith, ever striving to keep the unity of the spirit m the bond of peace.

2. We will not speak evil of one or another, nor wi11 we prosecute or expose the faults of the weak memebers of our church; but we will endeavOt' to be goverend by Paul's instructiion to Timothy, "That we will reprove, rebuke and exhort" each other as members of common brotherhood.

3. We are commanded to do good to all men, espec ally to those who are of the household of Faith. But we should remember that our relation:' a family, and assume in a Christian sense the care and tesponsibility that tne members of a family s·nould feel for each othei'.

4. We will attend the stated meetings of our church unles3 we are Pl'Ovidently hindered, or uncontrolleble circumstances prevent us. And contribute of our means as the Lord has prospered us for the support of our psator and other necessary expenses of our church. And we w 11 prefer -~he service of our own church to that of any other, and will pray for our pasto.c while he is preaching the word to us.

5. We will not injure our influence in the house of the Lord Ly occi.lpJing seats among the ungodly and sinners; but will occupy seats near thf' pulpit and use the natural powe1·s which the Lord has g.ven us to praise his lwly name. We will sing with those who sing and pray with those \lho pray.
