current image of Bettina is unavailable though I’ve included the

illustration from one of her various wanted posters; but if you can imagine a uncommon woman with extraordinary powers of

observation, recently attacked by a pack of angry squirrels, wearing a shapeless frock of indeterminate origins covered in the dregs of

whatever has been left in the tankards of others… you might not be far off in your imagining.

This season she plays Anne of Cleves, the fourth wife of the mercurial King Henry. Politically astute and a born survivor, Anne navigated the

treacherous waters of political alliances and court intrigue. Though her marriage and reign as queen lasted less than a year, she is the only of

King Henry’s wives to have survived the marriage remaining for the rest of her life a close advisor and friend to the King and his children. Being referred to as “The King’s most Beloved Sister”, the King settled her in her own palaces and estates and awarded her a generous pension for

the remainder of her life.

Lord Mayor Percival DeGage’

As Lord Mayor and local nobleman of the village of Kimmendale, Lord Percival considers himself sadly victimized by the incompetence of

others. In truth he is not so much beloved because of his abilities, but rather tolerated with amusement in spite of his tragic shortcomings. He

is often referred to as having a nervous temperament… because frivolously fussy hysteric is just too sadly accurate.

Hanseatic League

Encampment located between the Good Knight Pub Stage and the Mud Pit

This encampment portrays the merchant caravans participating in

local faires within the period of the 1100’s through the 1500’s. Since our encampment demonstrates the unique diversity of the merchant

caravan, this allows our members to create and develop characters representing cultures from the entirety of the known world. The merchant caravan was a cacophony of different cultures brought

together for the sake of safety and companionship while traveling the trade routes throughout the renaissance world. Members of such caravans might have included merchants, performers, minstrels,

acrobats and scholars. The caravan would also consist of dozens of support personnel such as mercenaries for protection, hunters to

provide food, servants, smiths, weavers, brewers and livestock handlers. Because of this, within the encampment of the Hanseatic League you

might encounter many exotic peoples from the steppes of Russia to the Viking colonies in Iceland all the way down to the Arab peninsula and

into India with the exotic spice trade.

The Ottoman Empire Encampment located between the Front Gate and the Crown Stage

During the 16th and 17th centuries, at the height of its power under the

reign of Suleiman the Magnificent, the Ottoman Empire was a multinational, multilingual empire controlling much of Southeast Europe, parts of Central Europe, Western Asia, and North Africa.

With Constantinople as its capital and control of lands around the Mediterranean basin, the Ottoman Empire was at the center of

interactions between the Eastern and Western worlds for six centuries. During various conflicts throughout Europe, great capitols rose and fell

often loosing great libraries and other repositories of knowledge and cultural histories, leading to the period known as “The Dark Ages". The

Ottomans held and protected the accumulated knowledge of the greater world for centuries. As Europe entered into the Renaissance the

Ottoman Empire began to share the arts, sciences and histories that they had so carefully maintained. It was through their influence that

much of the cultural histories of great countries remain. The Ottomans were artists, scholars and philosophers of the highest caliber, generous

with their knowledge and diplomatic with their strength.
