What is a book?…Well, that should be fairly easy to work out!
It’s...
...and
...and
But what if it’s...
an ebook on an ereader?
Well yes, that’s still a book!
Or a PDF of a book on a website?
Or even…
...a single chapter of a book in a PDF format?
Yes, they are all books...just accessed differently!
Now it is time to find the information you will need!
All citations for books need a minimum of 5 pieces of information:
1. Author2. Title (and Subtitle, if there is one)3. Publisher4. Place of publication5. Date of publication
Where do I find this information? On the front cover?
NO! Why not?
All the information may not be present and sometimes it is incorrect!
Where then? Start with the title page of the book!
Title
Author
Publisher
But what about the place of publication?
Help! There are two places named:Boston and New York!
You can choose the first of the two or you can check on the back of the title
page to see if there is more information there!
On the back of the title page you will find...
The copyright dates...
The Publisher
The Place of Publication
