A Brief History of Oracle
In June 1970, Dr E F Codd published a paper entitled A Relational Model of Data for Large Shared Data Banks. This relational model, sponsored by IBM, then came to be accepted as the definitive model for relational database management systems – RDBMS. The language developed by IBM to manipulate the data stored within Codd's model was originally called Structured English Query Language, or SEQUEL, with the word 'English' later being dropped in favor Structured Query Language – SQL.
In 1977 a company called Relational Software, Inc. released the first commercially available implementation of SQL. Relational Software later came to be known as Oracle Corporation.

ERP Oracle - Features
Oracle Financials, USA. Runs on Oracle RDBMS. Java based. Non-specific Industry
Has multiple pre-configured solutions. Applications are highly customizable due to their
JAVA interfaces. Highly scalable may be used by large and small businesses.
Licenses may be cost restrictive.
ERP Oracle Current Trend
The current Trend is ERP systems is the creation of WEB enabled system modules.
In the case of ERP systems, only one or two modules need to be fully WEB enabled to provide for System integration to the WEB.
These must be fully functional and secure.
ERP Oracle & Java
Java in the database allows developers to create high performing, scalable applications based on open, industry standards. Not J++ or any other product from Redmond.
Queries are generated in SQJL. SQJL is an open standard being developed by
Oracle, IBM, and Sun. (Surprised?) communication via the CORBA
ERP Oracle & Web
WEB Interfaces are developed using Oracles WEBDb. This is an HTML WEB Based GUI. Easy to use,
etc., etc., etc...... (I’ll let you know). Data retrieval is performed via Plain
Language Standard Query Language (PL/SQL). This is a very important feature for WEB
applications.
