THE SERVICE OF PREPARATION
A Trinitarian Tableau
Worship is the submission of all our nature to God. It is the quickening of the conscience by God's holiness, thenourishment of the mind with God's truth, the purifying of the imagination by God's beauty, the opening of theheart to God's love, the surrender of the will to God's purpose — and all of this gathered up in adoration. ~ William Temple
Come, celebrate the Wisdom of the universe, creating even before the stars and planetswere born and set in place! Sophia rules with God beyond all time and space!were born and set in place! Sophia rules with God beyond all time and space!
The Worship of God
In the fifth chapter of Romans, we read one of the most simple and subtle, but profound texts in all the
Bible, "the just shall live by faith!" It was this seemingly incidental idea that startled Martin Luther into
his amazing theological discovery, jump-starting the Protestant Reformation. After that monumental
statement, Paul then provides a litany of rather inane sayings that, quite frankly, seem to say next to
nothing and are anything but profound or provocative! Understandably, the apostle was grasping at
straws, desperately seeking to undergird the oft fragile faith of Jesus' followers, seeking any linguistic
trick to support these suffering servants. There must be a better way to become all God wants us to be,
devoid of gloom and doom and all kinds of despair and misery. As we revel today in this Trinitarian
tableau, we look for language better suited for our optimistically-inclined common humanity, never
failing to remember that the dark side, unfortunately, still follows us after all these years. Perhaps Paul
was right all along!
Allegro in G Major
Gathered in this sacred setting, we rejoice that God created earth in grandeur, towering mountains and the depths of seas, fertile fields and flowing waters!towering mountains and the depths of seas, fertile fields and flowing waters!
The majesty of earth is all around us! All humanity sings the glory of the skies!
over all that God supplies!
Let us worship God!

THE SERVICE OF PRAISE
O Wisdom, Breathed from God
2
Thomas Desmond, baritone ~ Chancel Choir
O Wisdom breathed from God, most high, Your depths all cosmic bounds defy.
Your might in gentleness holds sway, come forth and teach Your prudent way!
O Dayspring, ever shining bright, O sun of justice, splendid light.
Shine on each soul by sin held fast, break through the clouds of death at last!
All praise to You, great mystery, the undivided Trinity.
Our constant aid, on You we call, one God, the Wisdom of us all!
God the Trinity, we have gathered to worship the One who has wonderfully breathed the Spirit ofGod upon all flesh, to praise this One we experience in Trinitarian form; send Your still speakingSpirit to pour love into our hearts, putting us back in touch with the marvels of Your creationwhile quieting our frenetic pace as we ponder running waters, high mountain peaks, andtwinkling stars in the sky; on this high and holy festival day, help us to aspire to our true identityas Your children; all this we pray through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with Youand the holy and still speaking Spirit, one God, now and forever.
How humbling it is to know that God ordered this magnificent creation to please us!The majesty of earth is all around us! All humanity sings the glory of the skies!
We are humbled at the thought that human beings have been granted dominionover all that God supplies!
t The Litany of Praise3
before the majesty of our creator!

t The Gloria GREATOREX

God finds delight in humanity, in everyone created in the holy image! Let us rejoicebefore the majesty of our creator!
God of grace and glory, who wonderfully made all things, how majestic is Yourname in all the earth!
In Christ, we are called to endure and to hope! How thankful our hearts for a faiththat brings peace!
God of grace and glory, lover of all people, how precious to us is the gift of ChristJesus!
The Holy Spirit is present to guide and direct us! Our ears are attentive that we mayhear Your truth and follow Your word!
God of grace and glory, ever present with us, how reassuring is the love withwhich You surround us! Praise the Lord!
The Silent ConfessionThe Corporate Confession5
Let us pray to the Lord:
The Kyrie arr. David N. Johnson
The Assurance of Pardon6
Thanks be to God!
Beloved faith community, hear the good news of Trinity. When we are truly sorry for thebrokenness we have caused, God offers healing and forgiveness. We are justified by faith andhave peace with God through Christ Jesus. The Spirit of truth will guide us into all truth!
THE SERVICE OF CONFESSION
Spirit of truth, we recognize the high hopes that accompanied our birth. We mustacknowledge the many ways in which we have failed others, ourselves, and You.We cannot count the times we have taken for granted the gift of life in all itsvariety of plant and animal forms. We have scarred the face of the earth with ourlust for power and wealth. We have neglected the people You have invited us tolove, while worshiping at the altars of our own success. Forgive us, God, and helpus to God of trinitarian essence and help us to change the habits that destroyYour creation and diminish our humanity.
The Call to Confession4
4
How have we exercised the dominion entrusted to human beings by our creator? We whowere "crowned with glory and honor," empowered to manage the resources of earth, arecalled to give account of our stewardship. Come to confess before God our neglect and theways we misuse the goodness of Your creation. In the silence and stillness of our momentstogether, let us confess before the Holy.

Does not wisdom call, and does not understanding raise her voice? On the heights, beside the way, atthe crossroads she takes her stand! Beside the gates in front of the town, at the entrance of theportals she cries out, "To you, O people, I call, and my cry is to all that live, the Lord created me at thebeginning of God's work, the first of God's acts of long ago! Ages ago I was set up, at the first, beforethe beginning of the earth when there were no depths. I was brought forth when there were nosprings abounding with water. Before the mountains had been shaped, before the hills, I wasbrought forth when God had not yet made earth and fields, or the world’s first bits of soil. When Godestablished the heavens, I was there, when God drew a circle on the face of the deep, when God made firm
the skies above, when God established the fountains of the deep, when God assigned to the sea itslimit, so that the waters might not transgress God's command, when God marked out the foundationsof the earth, then I was beside the Holy One, like a master worker! I was daily God's delight, rejoicingbefore God always, rejoicing in God's inhabited world and delighting in the human race!"
Listen to what the Spirit of the still speaking God is saying. Thanks be to God!
Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand! We boast in our hope ofsharing the glory of God! And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing thatsuffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, andhope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the HolySpirit that has been given to us!
THE SERVICE OF THE WORD
Listen to what the Spirit of the still speaking God is saying. Thanks be to God!
Lord, Your Name Is Glorious
Lord, our Lord, Your glorious name all Your wondrous works proclaim.
In the heavens with radiant signs evermore Your glory shines.
Moon and stars in shining height nightly tell their Maker's might.
When we view the heavens afar, then we know how small we are.
With dominion crowned, we stand o'er the creatures of Your hand.
All to us subjection yield, in the sea and air and field.R

There will be a break between verse two and verse three for the reading of the Gospel. It is read in the midst of the
beloved faith community, reminding the congregation that the Gospel is for all people, and that our call is to carry out its
witness in the world. At this high point in the liturgy, the Gospel is not worshipped, but rather is reverenced with respect
as it proclaims the ministry and mission of Jesus, represented in words attributed to Jesus.

The Earth Is the Lord's
Listen to what the Spirit of the still speaking God is saying. Thanks be to God!
I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, the Spirit will guide you into all the truth! The Spirit will not speak on its own, but will speakwhatever the Spirit hears, and the Spirit will declare to you the things that are to come. The Spirit willglorify Me, and will take what is Mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is Mine! For thisreason I said that the Spirit will take what is mine and declare it to you!

THE SERVICE OF DISCIPLESHIP

We all believe in one God, eternal, true, and holy One: Maker of all things in heaven and earth both invisible and seen. The Maker in heaven, the ancient of days, all perfect source of power and mercy, all worthy of praise.
And in Christ Jesus we believe: God's only Son, our saving Lord. Though born of our flesh He is fully One with Almighty God on high. Though crucified, buried, He rose to life that has no end. From God's right hand He comes in glory as judge and as friend. And both from infinite God and from Christ, God's only Son, comes
forth the Holy Spirit, Comforter, sanctifying fire divine. All three are yet One in the holy mystery of faith that joins the Church throughout the world with the joy of the saints. Great Trinity, one holy God, Creator,
Savior, Spirit blest! Your boundless grace is our hope and strength, ever present, ever new. We sing alleluia! We raise our song of victory, for we are one in Christ now and eternally!
