GATHERING. . .
The Prelude
The Welcome and Announcements
The Introit
The Call To Worship (from Psalm 15)
O Lord, who may abide in Your tent?
Who may dwell on Your holy hill?
Those who walk blamelessly, and do what is right;
and speak the truth from their heart.
Those who do not slander with their tongues,
and do no evil to their friends.
Those who do these things shall never be moved.
The Prayer of Praise and Adoration
*The Hymn 336 “As a Chalice Cast of Gold”
*The Litany of Confession When the cross appears as folly instead of God’s power;
Let those who boast, boast of the Lord. When some demand signs and others seek wisdom;
Let those who boast, boast of the Lord. When the favored of the world claim the favor of God;
Let those who boast, boast of the Lord. We despise the weak and long to be strong;
God’s foolishness is wisdom; God’s weakness is strength. We despise the ignorant and seek to be wise;
God’s foolishness is wisdom; God’s weakness is strength. We despise the lowly and struggle for status;
God’s foolishness is wisdom;
God’s weakness is strength. . .(time for silent confession). . .
*The Choral Response
*The Assurance of Pardon
*The Gloria Patri p. 579 in the Hymnal
*The Peace and Greeting

TO RESPOND TO GOD’S WORD. . .
*The Affirmation of Faith (from “A Brief Statement of Faith”)
In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God,
and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel,
Whom alone we worship and serve.
We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God:
preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives,
teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel. Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain and giving his life for the sins of the world. God raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life eternal.
With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.
The Prayers of the People
The Lord's Prayer p. 16 in the Hymnal
The Service of Offering
The Gathering of Our Gifts
The Offertory
*The Doxology and Prayer of Dedication Doxology, p. 592 in the Hymnal
We offer but a portion of the bounty that You bestow, O God. Receive our
gifts as we seek to walk in Your way. Where justice is sought, use these gifts to
bring Christ’s liberating word. Where there is pain, may they bring the healing
of Christ’s love. Where there is want, let them assure others that You know of
their needs before they are voiced. Continue to multiply what we give to You,
as we become more obedient to Christ’s will for our lives. Bless both our gifts
and the lives that present them to Your praise and glory. Amen.
TO GO FORTH AND SERVE IN GOD’S NAME. . .
*The Hymn 386 “O for a World”
*The Charge & Benediction
*The Postlude

January 30, 2011 THE WORSHIP OF GOD 8:30 and 11:00 am
We are delighted to have visitors worship with us!
To aid you in our liturgy, we want to acquaint you with
our following custom: In the Lord’s Prayer, we use the
words, “Forgive us our debts… our debtors.” We en-
courage you to stand for singing, if you are able, as the
organ sounds the first note of introduction. When ap-
propriate to the hymn, the organist and choir will lead
the congregation in singing, “Amen.”
Assistive listening devices (amplified earphones and
telecoilneckloops), large-print bulletins and hym-
nals are available from the ushers.
Child Care is provided in the Education Building for
infants through kindergarten.
All worshippers are encouraged to sign the Atten-
dance/Friendship pad, greet your friends, and welcome
visitors.
The flowers today are given by Barry and Della Hall in
honor of the 2011 Confirmation class, their leaders, their
covenant partners, and their parents. May God richly bless
them all throughout this journey.

Missions
The 2011 Adult Mission Trip to Nashville, Tennessee, will be March 27-April 2. We will stay
at the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Our work will involve repairing homes damaged from
the floods last spring. We welcome males and females with all skill levels. The cost will be
$120. If you want to go or find out more information, get in touch with Bruce Harvey or Gary
Vaughn.
As you are probably aware, next Sunday is the FOOTBALL Super Bowl. Our church will also
have our S-O-U-P-E-R Bowl (of Caring). The Souper Bowl of Caring is a grassroots, faith-based crusade against hunger. We are joining other churches, schools, organizations and indi-
viduals across the country to fight hunger and poverty by collecting dollars in soup pots next Sun-
day. What is collected will be donated to a local agency to help the hungry in our community.
We thank you for your support.
Presbyterian Women will be hosting the Annual World Day of Prayer Service at our church on
Friday, March 4, at 11:00 a.m. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend with hearts and
minds prepared to pray together with others around the world. This is not a women-only event in
the slightest, but a community-wide participation of all who wish to be in unified prayer for those
neglected lives who languish in need of release from poverty and oppression. The World Day of
Prayer Planning Committee will be meeting on Monday, January 31, in the Church Parlor at
9:30 a.m. If you are interested in participating, your presence is welcomed as well. (Contact is
Carol Johnson, 373-2703.)
