Candidate Steve Miller: “Supports increasing teachers’ salaries as well as all funding for education” Dear editor, we have an important election coming up, and we should all think carefully and clearly about how we vote, for whom we vote and why we are voting for a candidate. I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity of spending time with Steve Miller, who is a candidate for re-election in District 26 for State Representative. Steve has done a fine job in Boise representing our District since 2012, and he is an honest, hard-working and reliable man. Our district includes counties that are rural and heavily involved in agriculture. Steve has lived in Fairfield County his entire life and is a farmer, so he understands the needs of our local farming community. His knowledge of water issues is considerable. He has often been wrongly described as not strongly supporting education — Not true! He is a strong advocate of Community Colleges and career-technical education and supports increasing teachers' salaries as well as all funding for education.

The subject of Proposition 2 is extremely complicated. Although at first glance it sounds like something that, of course, should be passed. It is a financial issue and needs to be soundly written and shaped so that Idaho does not end up in fiscal chaos by agreeing to pay too much for too many. Steve supports this approach. It is important to note that Steve has NEVER voted to sell public lands. It has never even come up for a vote in the House. The greatest loss to Idahoans is wildfire. The ecological damage to our resources in terms of erosion, fish and wildlife habitat, timber harvest, grazing and recreation are tremendous. The economic impact to our Valley was severe. Idaho management of federal lands can and will reduce wildfires and provide economic benefit. Carol Holman, Ketchum, Idaho ✰ Candidate Muffy Davis: “Committed to keeping our public lands in our ownership.” Dear readers, I would like for you to consider voting for Muffy Davis for District 26 State Legislature. I have known her and her family for 30 years and know her to be hard-working, honest and willing to listen to the people she would like to represent. She will represent her constituency well and has no personal agenda. She is committed to gain better Medicaid access to the people who really need it and improve our education system for a better Idaho. She also is committed to keeping OUR public lands in OUR ownership! Thank you, Alan Reynolds, Dist. 26 resident for 45 years ✰ Bipartisan Representation: “I don’t care what political party my neighbors belong to. They’re still my neighbors.” Dear editor, I want bi-partisan representation. I don’t care what political party my neighbors belong to. They’re still my neighbors. To get bi-partisan representation means, we have to elect Idaho Democratic candidates on Nov. 6th. It’s simple math. The legislators will have to work together when the representation is balanced. Everyone benefits from affordable health insurance. Some of our friends and neighbors are caught in the Idaho Health Care Gap! Many don’t have health insurance. They need a yes vote on Proposition 2. How many in Camas County would benefit from a raise in minimum wage? Our children would benefit from Pre-K education. It’s difficult to keep teachers in rural schools. Idaho is losing teachers to surrounding states because our wages are not competitive. In Camas County we lose teachers to surrounding counties for the same reason.

Legislation that positively affects the lives of average, working Idahoans seldom makes it to a vote. Democratic Senator Michelle Stennett and Democratic Representative Sally Toone work very hard and Democratic candidate Muffy Davis must be our representative in the House. The Idaho Democratic Party supports the Second Amendment. It supports hunters and hunting in Idaho. How many of us put meat in our freezers every hunting season? All of these issues and more are on the Idaho Democratic Party platform.

Now, let’s vote for balanced representation on Nov. 6t. Every Single Vote Will Count! This is not an Electoral College election. Your vote matters! Respectfully, Sherrie Gregory, Chairman, Camas County Democrats ✰
