SWIMMING POOLS | THE ORATORY SCHOOL

THE ORATORY SCHOOL | WOODCOTE

THE ORATORY SCHOOL is a prestigious independent Catholic boarding and day school for boys and girls ages 11-18 years old. It occupies an extensive campus in Woodcote, South Oxfordshire.

Feltham Construction were awarded the second phase which included a large new build swimming pool building, with modern changing rooms, an iconic swimming pool with covering, cafe, and other social areas. Demolition of an old existing swimming pool building was required to make room for the new building. However, the school still retained some existing facilities and refurbished them as part of the project. The new centre has a 25m, five-lane swimming pool with showers, changing rooms, a viewing area and cafe as well as an improved gym. Most of the school sports facilities are open to the public apart from the gym, which has 30 pieces of exercise equipment for exclusive use by pupils. The new building is named the French Sports Centre after Chris French, a school governor and chairman of its property committee.

In May 2015, Paralympic swimming champion Graham Edmunds opened the new sports centre.

SWIMMING POOLS | CROSFIELD’S SCHOOL

CROSFIELD’S SCHOOL, is one of the leading co-educational day schools in the country. It educates girls and boys together between the ages of 3 and 13 years old.

The development consisted of the construction of a new single storey swimming pool building with a 25-metre pool and changing facilities that are attached to an existing sports hall together with all associated external works. The school remained operational whilst the works were carried out.

CROSFIELD’S SCHOOL | WOODCOTE

SWIMMING POOLS | ALFRISTON SCHOOL

ALFRISTON SCHOOL is a secondary-age day and boarding school for girls. It caters for pupils with a wide range of special educational needs and/or disabilities.

Works comprised of the demolition of an existing swimming pool and the construction of a new timber framed swimming pool building, including new changing rooms and toilets. Alterations to the existing gym which borders the existing/new swimming pool were also included in the construction.

The alterations included a new storage cupboard, the creation of a new opening to allow access to the new swimming pool and demolition of the entrance lobby, including the low wall surrounding it; forming a new opening to allow existing services to be pulled into new build via the roof.

ALFRISTON SCHOOL | BEACONSFIELD

SPORTS HALLS | THE WESTGATE SCHOOL

THE WESTGATE SCHOOL is located in Chippenham, Slough. It delivers a high-quality comprehensive education for approximately 1000 young people aged between 11 and 19 years old.

Feltham Construction have worked on numerous projects for Westgate School. However, the first project consisted of the construction of a two-storey sports hall that incorporated changing facilities on the ground floor and classrooms above.

I am writing on a personal level to say how grateful I am for the good job you

have done during the time we have worked together at The Westgate

School project. The site has been run efficiently, effectively and

professionally... I would also comment favourably on the constructive and friendly relationship built with the

Client’s members of staff. The finished building should stand as a testament to

THE WESTGATE SCHOOL | CHIPPENHAM

SPORTS HALLS | ALDRO SCHOOL

ALDRO SCHOOL is a preparatory school in Shackleford, Surrey. It caters for approximately 240 boys between the ages of 7 and 13 years old.

The development was the construction of a new sports hall within the school grounds.

As well as constructing the multi court sports hall, the project also consisted

of associated works for facilities including toilets and storage, as well as

office space for the staff, plus external works.

The sports hall was a structural steel frame, with the external envelope being constructed predominantly from masonry, with timber cladding in areas as an aesthetic feature.

During the time of construction, the school remained fully operational for the majority of the works.

ALDRO SCHOOL | SHACKLEFORD

PAVILLIONS | ETON COLLEGE

Recognised as one of Britain's most prestigious public schools, ETON COLLEGE was founded in 1440 by King Henry VI. It is an all-boys boarding school and educates around 1300 pupils each year. It is located in Eton, Berkshire near Windsor.

More recently, Feltham worked on the construction of the Willowbrook Sports Pavilion to replace the existing tennis pavilion. It provides two new sets of changing facilities as well as a large internal clubhouse area. The use of floor to ceiling corner glazing and retractable screens allows the building to open fully to the elements when in use. When not in use the building can be fully closed providing security and privacy.

ETON COLLEGE | ETON

PAVILLIONS | UNIVERSITY OF READING (UoR)

The University of Reading is a public university located in Reading, Berkshire. It was founded in 1892 as University College, Reading, a University of Oxford extension college.

Feltham have completed numerous projects for the University of Reading. Including the construction of 2 pavilions named the BULMERSHE & WHITEKNIGHT’S PAVILLION. These involved the construction of a single storey sports pavilion as well as the widening, re-surfacing and extension of the car park. The creation of a drainage ditch and pond for the collection and management of surface water was also constructed for Bulmershe and the creation of a fire tender access route and minor hardstanding and landscaping works, was built for Whiteknights.

MERCHANT TAYLORS' SCHOOL is a mainstream, independently funded senior school for boys aged 11-18 years old in Northwood.

The construction of two separate Sports Pavilions to Merchant Taylors School comprising the construction of a two- storey Main Pavilion, and a single storey Cricket Pavilion. Both included associated site works comprising of hard & soft landscaping, drainage and mains services.

The school remained fully operational during term times throughout the construction period.

We have all been awaiting the construction of the new sports hall with bated breath and huge optimism. We had the opportunity last Friday to view the completed first stage and see and hear how it would change the school

lives of our girls. I have to say that not only were all the parents and donors

viewing oy for the first time bowled over by the scale and quality of the building,

but the feedback from all the staff associated with the project was

extremely positive in relation to your company

ST CATHERINE'S SCHOOL is a mainstream, independently funded senior school for girls aged 11-18 years old in Guildford, Surrey.

The 125th Anniversary Halls is the largest development the school has undertaken this decade - a new Performing Arts Centre and Sports Centre. The works started with the demolition of the existing gymnasium and squash courts buildings to make space for the new buildings.

This was then followed by the construction of a new Sports Hall and Centre followed by the Performing Arts Theatre building, all with associated circulation areas and facilities.

The award-winning facility includes a 300-seat auditorium, boasting some of the best acoustics in the country. An orchestra pit, technical box and recording studio were also constructed to provide the students with exciting opportunities. The equally impressive sports' facilities, adjacent, offers a multi-purpose sports' hall, dance studio, gymnasium, swimming pool, squash court and fully fitted fitness suite.

PIPERS CORNER SCHOOL is an independent day school for girls aged 4 – 18 years old in Great Kingshill, Buckinghamshire.

This project provided a new theatre for the school that will seat up to 280 people and be fully equipped with a large and flexible stage, orchestra pit and state-of-the-art sound and lighting facilities.

The development also provided the school with a purpose-built café and 2 large drama studios and green rooms. External works, drainage and external services including a new car park were also included.

The project achieved a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating.

PIPER’S CORNER SCHOOL | GREAT KINGSHILL

SPORTS & PERFORMING ARTS | WESTBROOK HAY PREP SCHOOL

WESTBROOK HAY is a thriving independent Preparatory School located in Hemel Hampstead that educates boys and girls from 3 -13 years old.

The works comprised of the demolition of the existing assembly hall, removal of all materials, grubbing up of foundations and an overall clear up of the site, followed by the construction of a new assembly hall over two storeys.

The ground floor provided a new reception area, teaching rooms and tiered theatre seating, whilst the second floor provided further teaching rooms, reception area and access to upper tiered seating.

WESTBROOK HAY | HEMEL HAMPSTEAD

LEISURE | FRILFORD HEATH GOLF CLUB

The FRILFORD HEATH GOLF CLUB comprised of the design and construction of a new 2 storey golf shop, reception and performance centre. New offices, accommodation and the erection of a viewing terrace form the first floor, together with a fresh putting green.

The structure was delivered using a CLT frame (cross laminated timber), as well as the installation of all mechanical and electrical services, including CCTV plus the heating and ventilation systems.
