RECESS REMINDERSEach elementary school conducts a daily recess period, which is twenty (20) minutes in length. At recess time, all children must go outside for fresh air, recreation time, and physical activity. We strongly urge you to have your child dress appropriately for the existing weather conditions. During cold weather, your child should have a hat and gloves or mittens available to wear during recess periods. Students may be sent outdoors for a short period of time even though it may be cold or snowing so boots may be needed on snowy days. Children will not have recess outdoors if it is raining, extremely cold, or when a dangerous wind chill factor exists.

The Holiday season is approaching. If anyone has any unused bicycles sitting around in your shed or basement; please let Mr. Marshall know.  He will gladly take them and either repair them or get them repaired and try to get them to deserving children before our winter break!

A.M.E.S. HOLIDAY BREAKFAST BAGS PROJECT 2018We would like to help our students learn about showing generosity and compassion this holidayseason by creating breakfast bags for senior citizens in need, serviced through Friend, Inc. in Kutztown, PA. Friend, Inc. provides food and a variety of other helpful services to clients in Fleetwood, Kutztown, and Brandywine school districts.

CLOSING THE SCHOOL IN EMERGENCIESInstances may occur due to weather or other emergencies when it will be necessary to close the school. Information regarding closings and delays will be sent out using the Rapid Notification System. This information will also be placed on our website along with Radio and TV announcements. Announcements will be made daily only if school is to be closed. It is understood that school will reopen when our district is no longer announced. In the event that an emergency situation should make it necessary to close school early, each child should have a specific prearranged place to go if the parents are not home. When late starting times are announced, parents should continue to listen for further instructions since the initial decision could be changed, depending on road conditions. In the event of a delayed start on an early dismissal day, the early dismissal will be cancelled and school will end at the regularly scheduled time. Parents will receive One Call Now messages on the Alert 1 & 2 Phones numbers listed in the Home Access Center

If there is a strong likelihood that this will happen, your sources of information will be the following local radio and television stations and the district website: Radio Stations: Television Stations: Website: WEEU Reading 830 AM TV 69 Allentown www.fleetwoodasd.org WFMZ Allentown 100.7 FM WRFY Reading 102.5 FM

Kindergarten learned how to mix colors!! We started with the primary colors and had to follow which colors to use when. We learned the difference between a scoop (a lot) of paint and a dab (a little bit) of paint to get the correct amount of color. Mrs. Watkins class was rewarded with a class dab if they could show self-control and not “dab” every time I used the word. Everyone had a great time and we are now learning how to make a color wheel using the primary and secondary colors. Be sure to stop in at the art show in May to see all the wonderful artworks the Andrew Maier artists are making!!
