General instruction for filling of project proposal

1. Fill all the information provided in the section and mention in brief/detail. Avoid writing only yes or no. 2. Repetition of features, or key words/copy paste text matters from other submitted proposals, should be

avoided.3. Avoid general statement –

a. Provide improvement e.g. quality, productivity, introducing new materials, aesthetics, etc with justification.

b. Specific points for example - ergonomic improvements, it may be written that - ergonomic improvement due to better grip, adjustable height, clear and properly arranged controls, etc.

4. Describe Issues faced – Clearly mentioned the issues faced by the existing products and MSMEs. Relevant issues need to be supported by images/data in the proposal as well. Example – a. Non appealing product as compared to market products. b. Productivity issues, less Profit margin, quality, packaging, market presence, tough competition, etc.c. Lower productivity/Efficiency etcd. Lack of technologye. Packaging/communication/logistics etc issues..(there need not be possible that all the issues fitting in to

one product and it may be possible that only few major issues are relevant to proposed product)5. Design intervention –

a. Should cover the features and activities directly benefiting the product and customers. b. Highlight the new approach adopted in the project which is unique or different from existing in-

house /competition.c. Address to the issues faced in previous section.d. New features, technology, reduced cost to customers, ease of use, product serviceability,

maintenance, quality improvement, attractive packaging, Aesthetics, ergonomics, etc may be part of it.6. Manufacturing competitiveness - This section highlights the benefits of design project to the MSME unit.

a. Productivity improvement, simplification of manufacturing, commonization of parts and processes. b. Ease of storage, inventory reduction, cost reduction in production, packaging, logistics, etc. c. Gaining access to new markets, increase in existing market share, etc. d. Export possibility/improvement, import substitute due to design intervention etc.

7. Target markets, Potential for export or substitute for import should be clearly defined.a. Segments, specific age group markets( young, kids, newly married, old age person)b. Income group market(low/mid/high)c. Segment like (utility, luxury, hospitality, government, rural or urban etc)d. Geography ( states in eastern India or specific states and markets like Delhi, Mumbai cities in

Rajasthan, or C class cities across the countries etc)e. Specific markets, fairs, exhibitions, B to B, B to C approachesf. International markets (need to be specific with name of the country or market, ask to provide the

location and possible share/value - otherwise it is very vaguely quoted by the MSMEs/designers)8. Images of MSME units existing products and competition product should be kept and marked respectively.
