Maths

LO: To improve my recall and fluency in Times Tables.

Use the Mathsframe website: https://mathsframe.co.uk/en/resources/resource/477/Multiplication-Tables-Check

When you have completed answering questions on 2x up to 12x, log onto Times Tables Rockstars and complete work that has been set.

English

LO: To draft a character description

Where you sat at a rectangular table used to show how important you were. The king sat at the head of the table and everyone was ranked in order below that so the idea of a round table was revolutionary with nobody sitting higher than anyone else.

Read the story again.

Who do you think will sit in one of the empty seats? Would they be a good or bad knight? What might they be like? What personality characteristics might they have?

Create a list of possible characteristics and experiences for a good knight (include both physical and personal characteristics such as: strong, calm, kind, clever, etc). Come up with a name for the knight. Note that as legends are retold and changed, you could easily be describing a female knight.

Today, I would like you to plan your own knights character description – what characteristics does he/she have and why?

How have they proved themselves worthy of a place at the table?

This is just the planning phase. Use the character sheets from previous days to help you think of the characteristic your new knight will have.

You will be writing your character description tomorrow. I am hoping to use these for a fantastic display outside of our classroom. Please try to make sure you are using your punctuation and spelling words correctly. I am happy for you to type your planning and your final piece.

Spelling: allowed and aloud

Use the dictionary to find the meaning and put the word into a sentence.

Can you find antonyms and synonyms?

Handwriting – write the above word X3 each. Can you put them into a sentence?

Reading – read for 20 minutes. This could be fiction or non-fiction. What did you find out?

GPS: LO: To expand noun phrases with the addition of ambitious modifying adjectives

Following on from yesterday, have a go at the spooky settings sheet attached.

Words of the week.

Give antonyms and synonyms for each of the words and write them in sentences. Use these words for the whole week. New ones will be given next week.

Complete the activity.

Create a spider diagram of your community. Start with the family at the centre, then the school and then the wider community.

Art & DT

LO: Create and combine shapes to create recognisable forms

What is sculpture?

Do you know any famous artists that create sculptures?

Watch the following –

I would like you to create a sculpture today and send a photo of your design into school.

Your sculpture must be of a recognisable, famous landmark. Can you create the Eiffel Tower? How about Big Ben?

You can make your sculpture out of anything you choose. I would be extremely impressed if you made 3D shapes from nets (these can be found, if easier, ready to print on line) and then create the sculpture from your own 3D shapes.

Be as creative as you like. I look forward to seeing them

Please send any work to the following email address. Teachers will reply to your email (usually within 48 hours).

If you need to ask a question about the work or need to get a message to the teacher, then please use the learning at home email.

Please let us know if your child is finding this learning too tricky as we will endeavour to provide alternative activities.

If you have any general questions, then please use the normal school office email.

What is sculpture?

Sculpture is three-dimensional artwork .

Sculpture can be made by

What has the artist used

to make these sculptures?

Sculpture is often about the human body.

Even food...as in these

sculptures by

Claes Oldenburg

...but it can be about anything.

Angel of the North-by Antony Gormley

Sculpture is usually large...

Wow,

That’s huge!

...but it can be tiny.

Do you have to be good at painting

and drawing to make a sculpture?

...not really!

All you need is your imagination.

I think this will make a

brilliant castle...or maybe....

Is sculpture always made of hard

materials like wood and stone?

No...sculpture can be made out of anything...

They don’t have to be solid

wire

Melting man by

Nele Azevedo

Why do you think the artist chose this material?

What does this sculpture mean to you?

What do you think this is?

What do you think it is made from?

Islands and buildings in silk

Why do you think they have done this?

Remember ...

...all it takes...

...is...

...your...

...imagination!

What has Romuald Hazoume

made these masks from?
