This conference brings together over 400 high school students and over 50 teachers from almost every high school in Ottawa. It provides teach-ers with resources and empowers youth by: INFORMING them of social and environmental issues. INSPIRING them to take action. Giving them the tools and opportuni-ties to INITIATE change.

Conference Mandate

This conference intends to break down the barriers caused by cyni-cism around social and environ-mental issues by creating a climate where idealism and the power of each individual to make the world a better place are celebrated and fostered. Within the power of our collective imagination we hold to the power to address the issues we face as a planet and together we can create a better world grounded in justice, quality, truth and fairness.

The conference's perspective is that there are a myriad of wonderful options available to individuals to get involved in to address global issues. The reality is there we still strive for solutions to alleviate the suffering and injustices in this world. We need to progress beyond the current

scope avenues of involvement and forge a new path. That path lies in the power of our collective imagina-tion, to progress beyond our current construct and dream of a better world. Towards that end we encour-age youth to engage in the existing initiatives and learn from those who make it their lives to make the world a better place. But, in that involve-ment encourage critical thought of what is going on around them and ultimately truly independent thought where the power of their idealism and dreams can be turned in to reality and tangible action. Together we can make a better world!
