How Can Counseling & Advising Help?
Academic Counseling – MAP out an educational path to achieve your goals.
Financial Aid Academic Plan – Counselors help keep you educated on your Financial Aid eligibility.
In order to remain eligible for Financial Aid students need to:
1) Maintain a 2.0 GPA
2) Complete at least 2/3 of credits attempted with a passing grade
3) Attempt to take no more than 150% of required classes in the program
(NOTE: Attempted classes includes dropped courses and classes taken without a passing grade.)
If you become ineligible for Financial Aid, a counselor may help you put together a Financial Aid Academic Plan to
submit with a letter of appeal to the Financial Aid Appeal Committee.
Transfer College Information - Counselors will advise students regarding appropriate classes to take at MCC to assist
with a smooth transfer to their college/university of choice.
Online Advising – Questions may be submitted to counselors online: http://www.muskegoncc.edu/onlineadvising
Personal Counseling – All MCC counselors are Licensed Professional Counselors or Limited Licensed Professional
Counselors who can provide short term personal counseling services and provide referral resources for long-term
counseling resources.
How Can You Help Yourself?
College Catalog – You are responsible for knowing the College guidelines, as well as the MCC degree and certificate
