Grasshopper definition

Grasshopper, Rhino Skyscraper

This project is a continuation of the work flow between grass-hopper and Revit. I first wrote the definition in grasshopper. After, I exported the geometry as a mass to Revit. Using adap-tive component in Revit, I was able to build curtain wall. A mix of concrete wall and steel bars has been looped around half of the structure Steel rings has been implanted each 20 foot to keep the integrity of the structure.

In martail arts, aikido decitates to aletrnate the existing energy for defense. Using that concep, this project approch is the use the existing site forces to serve the program with minimal site change.

Adaptive system

To shield the south west facade of the building, I am adopting Erwin Haeur screen system for many reasons. The light that penetrate through the screen create a beautiful and dynamic interior. Also the system is designed to morph and adapt to local condition. I am alternating this design to allow rain water collection to penetrate as well as designing out of fiber glass for rigidity purposes

Force magnitude diagramThe topography is a major driver for the location of the buildings program. The site landscape has divided into zones in respect to the shadow analysis values. Those values has been translated into zones that define seating’s areas and gathering spaces.

Scripps Network CompetitionSpring 2011The form of the space is derived from the convergence and continuation of multiple external circulation routes to create an organic and energetic space form

The arrangement of space creates a beautiful juxtaposition that glorifies the program. Demo space is a key moment to the exiting Scripps office buildings. The demo is made out of glass to draw employees and maintain a live environment and internal campus.

The lobby embeds a residential feeling tucked into the landscape. The entrance draws the user into an organic form that enhance creativity and innovation.

Avondale Town Center:

Economic development is the key for any community to development and thrives. Avondale residents needs more than safe, and affordable housing. The project initiative aims at activating the space attempting to fight crime, encourage investment in the area, promote economicgrowth and deter economic leakage.

Northside Festival First Iteration Fall 2010

The purpose of this exercise is to develop an understanding of community needs and ways to satisfy it. After several trips to the site, many interviews with the locals and re-search about the area and subject, my team decided to design an art festival center. Our goals were to connect different parts of the community by making this center a gathering and focal place. Different ameni-ties were implanted to make use of the building all year long.

Northside Festival Final Iteration Fall 2010

The second iteration focused on creating an identity of the building within its context. The facility purpose is to draw talent from across the area and enable the growth of the com-munity as a whole. Functionality was a major challenge in this project. We designed the facility to be com-posed of smaller independent spaces that are connected to create the big structure. The concept is to make the building use more ef-ficient throughout the year.
