What eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, and what has not entered the human heart, what God has prepared for those who love him, this God has revealed to us through the Spirit.—1Corinthians 2:9-10

CHOICE “If you choose you can keep the commandments,” Sirach tells us. God “has set before you fire and water; to whichever you choose, stretch forth your hand” (Sirach 15:15, 16). This is a great mystery: God does not control us so completely that we cannot choose our own path. We have certain boundaries, of course, but no one but we can choose our way within those boundaries. In today’s reading from Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us of our freedom and our responsibility for our lives. He calls us to look beyond the words of the commandments, all the way to their meaning. Look beyond the adultery to the selfishness that poisons our love. Look beyond the murder to the anger that eats away at our compassion. Look beyond the perjured testimony to the lies and deception that drive our behavior. Our vocation is to choose life for ourselves, and to choose a path through our part of the world that helps make life possible and more abundant for others as well. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

LENTEN MORNINGS OF REFLECTION

ALL ARE WELCOME!

The Marianite Associate Steering Committee for Associates, Sisters, Family and Friends will be hosting two opportunities to attend a Lenten Morning of Reflection, Saturday, March 7th at Holy Family or Saturday, March 28th in Covington, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm. Jennifer LeJeune, DRE, Holy Family Parish, will be the presenter for both events. The theme is “God’s Love Keeps Going and Going and Going…” Lent gives us this opportunity to ENERGIZE. Come re-charge or even change your batteries. Allow yourself time to open the eyes of your heart to prepare for what’s to come… the Resurrection. Be prepared for music, prayer, quiet reflection, sharing of fellowship, and much, much more. If you have any questions, or would like to register, contact Jennifer LeJeune, 225-336-4463 or jlejeunehfc@gmail. com To view the flyer and for more information, please visit www.holyfamilychurchpa.org/MSC_reflection_flyer.pdf

ST. THERESE OF LISIEUX

“Remember that nothing is small in the eyes of God. Do all that you do in love.”

St. Therese translated "the little way" in terms of a commitment to the tasks and to the people we meet in our everyday lives. It is a way in which we can serve God, our

loving Father, through simplicity and love.

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, the confirmation group were invited to perform a small action with great love, by making Valentine cards for the homebound. They were reminded that something as small as making cards, can result in something big in the hearts of others.

Please keep our Confirmation candidates and students in your prayers as they journey to celebrating this beautiful Sacrament.

COFFEE & PRAYER On Tuesday, January 28th, all those present at Coffee & Prayer were invited to decorate SNOWFLAKE cookies. Theme of the day was UNIQUE AS A SNOWFLAKE! Just as every snowflake is unique, every person is unique because God created us in his own image (Genesis 1:27). He made YOU so you could share in His creation. We discussed how our life is our gift and ways we can appreciate each other and become beautiful, shining and unique snowflakes. One way is to be thoughtful of others. So, each guest was asked to decorate sugar and gingerbread cookies that would be distributed to the homebound. A SPECIAL THANKS to Toni Brantley, Michelle Cagle and Paula Currier for baking, directing and preparing the cookie bags for the homebound.

ALL ARE INVITED to join us for the next session of Coffee & Prayer, Tuesday, February 18th, 9:30 am, Marian Hall. Any questions, please contact Jennifer LeJeune at 336-4463 or [email protected].

THANK YOU The Port Allen Food Pantry would like to thank the parishioners and visitors of Holy Family Parish who contributed to the pantry through the Advent Giving

program. The total funds collected came to $3,166. This money will greatly help them through this coming year to continue their social responsibility ministry of feeding the

needy. Your kind generosity is most appreciated!
