"Do you love me?" I remember asking my then girlfriend that very question. If she had answered yes, I might not be your pastor today. Maybe? Maybe not? Love defines us, and Love is at the center of our lives. In this Sun-day's Gospel, Jesus asks Peter, "Do you love me?" Peter answers Jesus almost immediately, "Yes you know that I love you". Why did Jesus ask this question? Why, do you love me? Did Jesus need to be loved? I believe the reason why Jesus asked the question was because he wanted Peter to know that the most important thing is that he love Jesus. Jesus knew that if Peter loved him he would do anything for him, and so he asks him, "do you love me?" Peter's “yes” draws him into relationship with Jesus. Peter's “yes” moves him to follow Jesus more closely. Peter's “yes” ultimately leads him to give his life for Jesus and the Church. When we say yes to love, it changes everything. Think of all the sacrifices you per-sonally have made out of love. Whether it be for your husband, wife, children, parents, grandparents, and friends. That is why Jesus asks Peter "do you love me?" He knew that without love Peter could not be the head of his church. He knew that Peter had to understand this, and that his love for him would ultimately lead him to give his life for the sake of the Gospel. This Sunday, join me in re-affirming our love for Jesus. Proudly say, "yes Lord, you know that I love you."

Regards in Christ,

Father Vincent

With Deep Gratitude

Dear Father Vincent,

Thank you for the plaque on the occasion of my 90th birthday. It was a total surprise to me when you announced my name to receive it. It was greatly appreciated. I am the last survivor of ten in my family. I still have my second home and family at Our Lady of Grace Church.

Thank you for the beautiful, kind tribute you wrote about me in the bulletin. I will con-tinue to be your usher as long as God gives me good health. It’s an honor and my pleasure to serve with you.

Your Usher, Rocco Caruso
