More than 3,500 applications were received for these 43 positions. 50 Percent of teachers in the Miami-Dade Public School System with an FIU degree. 2010 Year the Panthers recaptured the Sun Belt Conference Championship. Third baseman Garrett Wittels is now tied with Joe Dimaggio with his 56th consecutive game hitting streak. Links Interconnecting Latin America (LILA) http://www.whren-lila.net/about/lila.htm Aims to improve connectivity in the Americas through the establishment of new inter-regional university links in the Western hemisphere from Florida to California and south to Brazil, Chile and Mexico. School of Hospitality Management, Tianjin, China http://hospitality.fiu.edu/tianjin.asp In 2006 FIU unveiled the first U.S. School of Hospitality and Tourism in China, similar to FIU’s top-ranked program in Miami. A joint hospitality management program between the Chinese government and an American university, the $50 million, 80 acre university center site was fully funded by the China 60 miles from Beijing. FIU’s largest international program, with capacity for up to 2,000 students it includes a 20-story dormitory tower. More than 500 students have graduated with FIU degrees.

LA Grid, an international multi-disciplinary research community and virtual computing grid created and active at the College’s School of Computing and Information Sciences, enables institutions and industry to collaborate IT research, education and workforce development across U.S., Latin America and Spain (Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) Centro Nacional de Supercomputacion) to collaborate on complex industry applications for business and societal needs in the context of healthcare, life sciences and disaster mitigation.
