Ann FitchWACC Executive Director

2018? Where did you go? I feel like I hardly knew you! This 4th quarter zoomed by. Even

though it went by so quickly, we cannot overlook the successes in 2018. Waseca has

a lot to be proud of this year. The school is done and it’s gorgeous. Elm Ave is done.

Tink Larson Community Field is done. We had a record number of housing starts. The

Sesquicentennial events were a success. New businesses came to Waseca and existing

businesses grew. And all of you were there to support it. The support that our business

community gives to all the initiatives in Waseca is more valuable than you know. Not

a week goes by that you aren’t contacted to sponsor an event or project, and you

continually come through.

Here at the chamber, we have seen some excellent growth in membership. We have

gained almost 20 new members this year. The chamber got more involved in the Treats

on the Streets and will be fully taking that over next year. Vision 2030 is proving to

be beneficial as the chamber is leading the charge to house an online business guide

to help new and existing businesses navigate grants and low interest loans that are

available to them. Be proud, be very proud, of the things that happen in Waseca, they

would not happen without all of you. From me, in all of my capacities, thank you.

I feel like things are not going to be any slower in 2019. My priority for next year is

to focus on member engagement and feedback. Starting in January, you will see a

meeting invitation in your inboxes. This meeting will be all about you. My undivided

attention will be focused solely on you and your business. I look forward to meeting

with every chamber member to listen to their needs; their needs from the chamber,

from the community, and from local government. I need to hear your voice to be your

best advocate.

Next year you will also find us at a new address! The chamber office will be heading

north into Woodridge Interiors’ old building (Woodridge’s business has grown into a

new spot at the old Pantheon building). We assessed our needs and we currently have

too much space. Our space has served us well while we have been here, but the time is

right to downsize. A special thank you to our current lessor, Oscar Marquez, he has been

wonderful through this transition for us—thank you Oscar! Since we are downsizing,

we will have A LOT of things we will not be able to take with us into the new office.

Whatever we do not move to the new location will be available to chamber members

to purchase at extremely agreeable prices. We will use those dollars to offset any of our

moving costs.

Being your Executive Director has been rewarding beyond what I

anticipated; I thank all of you for your confidence in me and in your

chamber. Together we make Waseca an unforgettable place to live,

work, and visit.

Being a Member of the Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce makes you part of our business community. We should all be willing to help out and boost up our community when we can. An easy and effective way to do this is by using social media to recognize another Member. For instance, if your office just got a facelift from Suburban Furniture, take a picture of the transformation, and tag Suburban Furniture in your post. Or show off your newly detailed work van that Automotive Detailing Professionals did for you with a pic, a post, and a tag. It is quick, free, and appreciated by your fellow Members. #picpostandtag

What made you join the Chamber’s Ambassador Program? I joined the Chamber Ambassador program to build meaningful, lasting relationships with our community leaders. I think it is very important to have that community connection.

What has been your most positive experience in your ambassadorship? I think the most positive experience for me as an ambassador is meeting the new people that have come into our community, and seeing the existing businesses take on new adventures.
