Media room has a 65” TV for day-to-day viewing but converts to a cinema screen for movies.

A high-spec family home, SurreyCyberhomes helped create the perfect entertainment system for the whole family, as part of a major extension and refurbishment at a Surrey home.We also worked with the family and M+E consultant to integrate the latest automation and security systems into the development.

The multi-room audio and video system features a Sonos music player for each family member. Nine televisions can stream video content from multiple Sky, Virgin TiVo and Apple TV boxes, Blu-ray discs and a Kaleidescape movie server.

The main living room boasts a 65” Samsung TV. And at the touch of a button, the room becomes the ultimate 3D home cinema experience. The lights dim, blinds close, a projector descends from the ceiling, and a 250 cm x 140 cm screen gently lowers in front of the TV.

Projector rises automatically into the ceiling when not in use.

16 CCTV cameras can be viewed from a smartphone when away from home.

Working to Cyberhomes’ design for the installation, the joiners built custom carpentry to house the screen and accommodate the acoustic demands of the speakers.

Outside, exterior sound systems and atmospheric lighting enhance the swimming pool area and landscaped gardens, enabling the family and their guests to make the most of the summer.

Every light in the house and garden can be dimmed or switched on and off with touchscreen controllers or a smartphone.

Alternatively, the family can choose a pre-set option to create the right mood for the right moment, be it watching a movie or reading a book.

They can also switch off all the lights in the house with a single button, or turn the lighting to holiday mode, to create the impression that the house is occupied.

For security, Cyberhomes made sure that discreet CCTV cameras cover every part of the property. Smart technology allows the family to see footage from touchscreen control panels throughout the house, or on their smartphones when away from home.

And there’s a video door-entry system at the driveway to give advance notice of visitors’ arrival.

Custom faceplates were used for all lighting and climate wallplates to suit interior design.

The dedicated rack room houses two full-height equipment racks for the audio and video systems, and two low racks for CCTV and networking. The room was a finalist for ‘Best Dressed Rack’ at the 2014 CEDIA awards and won the Control4 2015 award for ‘Most Professional AV Rack’.
