The celebration continued on Tuesday at the HIP, HIP, Hooray party along the riverfront on the Merchandise Mart’s South Drive.

Another NeoCon 2015 highlight was the Best of NeoCon competition. Winners were announced on Monday, June 15, at an awards breakfast hosted by Contract magazine. Heavy furniture in the living room as well as in hotel rooms, or even in the office, is not cool anymore. Designers and end users are looking for lighter, more organic shaped furniture. The console Move designed by Mac Stopa for Tonon gains attention in every location, offering both modernity and functionality with its wide room for storing essential items while maintaining an incredible lightness. Move is made in American walnut or oak veneered MDF and is available in matt black or white lacquer. The shelves and the doors are Move’s distinctive trait. The front surface of Move comes in both MDF with the three-dimensional effect in American walnut or oak veneer as well as in the innovative “soft touch” polyurethane material with 3D texture. Made in Italy, Move is distributed in the USA by Sandler Seating. www.tononitalia.com, www.massivedesign.pl

Mac Stopa Wins HIP Interior Design Product Designer Honoree Award 2015

Mac Stopa’s Pebble Collection for Mosaico Digitale is a wall tile with a tessellating star shape. The tile is made from smaller pebble-shaped forms in resin. Using a special design geometry, Mac creates a stunning organic mosaic effect achieved without any recognizable divisions between the tiles. Thanks to the new resin technology, the tile is strong, but light-weight, durable yet flexible, and gives the possibility to replicate any photographic image on the tile, including graphic designs. By changing the color of the tiles and the color of the grouting between the tiles, different graphic expressions on the finished surface may be achieved. The tiles are available in a variety of colors, including solid and mirrored, are eco-friendly and 100% water proof; a perfect solution for wall tiles in the bathroom as well as for swimming pools. One of many tile patterns that Mac designed for the collection, the Trulli pattern, exhibited during NeoCon 2015 and winner of a Best of NeoCon Gold Award, is inspired by ancient architectural Trulli symbols native to the Puglia region in Italy. The Trulli symbols digitized in a 3D wave pattern with the colors of sea anemone give the pattern a distinct Mediterranean vibe. www.mosaicodigitale.it, www.massivedesign.pl
