A home learning environment where we provide care with a difference

Welcome to Blossoms Nursery Blossoms Nursery team extends a warm welcome to our Nursery where we hope your child will enjoy learning and developing in a caring, safe, happy and homely

environment.

Who are Blossoms?Blossoms Nursery was founded and created by two ambitious people who wanted to make a difference; Bobbi Chana and Johanne Emmanuel.

The name ‘Blossoms’ was created with the vision we want for children in mind. We want each child to develop and ‘blossom’ from childhood to adulthood with the years they have spent in our care as their foundation. We met while working in childcare for a large chain nursery in Harlow. We were both asked to work together and created an instant spark. While working for the chain, we both felt that we wanted to explore more and have more experience.“We want to be able to take our children on trips”, “ We would like to spend more time playing and being with the children rather then spending time with paper work”.Although we both understood that ‘paper work’ was necessary and important, we wanted to give the children in our care the kind of childhood experiences they would remember and love.

In 2011, we decided that it was time to do something on our own. With many years of experience and qualifications in childcare, between us, we wanted to create something more ‘comfortable, homely , and relaxing’ for children to have fun whilst they are safe. We felt it was a big risk to take but believed in ourselves and each other that this was something we could achieve together. Our first step to become family orientated child-minders in our local community . Johanne offered her home for this to take place in and so the journey begun.

Johanne Emmanuel & Bobbi Chana

The transitionBlossoms was now Ofsted registered for 12 children a day.We advertised in a local magazine and soon the word had spread. With everything in place, we held open tour days for parents and children to come and visit us.

Development Matters

Following the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, Blossoms created stimulating and fun playrooms for

children to explore and learn.

Equal Opportunities All nursery staff have a responsibility to

ensure equality of access and opportunity for all children and adults with whom they have contact on a day

to day basis. This includes; the staff employed in the nursery, the children and families attending and the wider

community. The principles of equality of access and opportunity are embedded in

the company’s policy and procedures and cannot be taken in isolation.

Blossoms Nursery became Limited in October 2011.Meeting targets 4 months before expected and with the waiting list still growing, we decided it was time to move to a bigger property. Wanting to keep our family orientated environment, Blossoms converted a house in to a nursery in the same local area.We met all safety requirements and became Ofsted registered for up to 18 children a day.We opened many doors to employment and slowly recruited vibrant and enthusiastic employees with the same vision to build our team.

What was next? Before we knew it our small, family orientated company was expanding and becoming very busy. We had children on our waiting list and parents who wanted us to help with after school care. With this in mind we worked with local schools and parents to arrange a before/after school club and a holiday club.

Expanding We did not want to stop there! We now needed a bigger building to continue to expand the company and build our team. We were in search of a building with large indoor and outdoor space. We wanted somewhere that did not compromise the homely environment for our children and staff, but there had to be a large outdoor space to widen the children’s interest and inside we wanted additional rooms for children to move between and explore. In December 2012 we found the perfect building for our company.

Welcome to Blossoms Nursery

at Horse Shoe Farm West

Here at Blossoms we understand that leaving your precious assets in somebody’s hands is a tough choice for a parent to

make. Blossoms Nursery provides a stimulating, family orientated, caring and education based environment for

children, in which their natural curiosity is encouraged and their individuality is respected.

So far, in our 4 years of being established we have built a wonderful reputation and partnership with parents and children. We have created a balanced and stimulating environment for our children to be safe, happy and an exciting place to learn. We have worked well with the community in the areas of Harlow Church Langley, Epping, Ongar, North Weald and Loughton.Blossoms created additional rooms for children to learn from and explore. This stimulates children and staff and prevents boredom, builds their knowledge and widens their interest. These rooms include: The sensory room, sleep room, cosy library room and Blossoms museum.

BehaviourThe Blossoms Nursery team recognise their need to set out reasonable and appropriate boundaries to manage the behaviour of children in the nursery. By providing a happy, safe and calm environment the children will be encouraged to develop the vital social skills they will need to progress in society as they grow.

DiversityWe welcome children and families from all social, cultural and religious backgrounds. We value the diversity of family structures and life-styles. We aim to create a rich and diverse nursery environment to reflect the social and cultural diversity in our community.

EYFS / Parent PartnershipThe EYFS aims to raise the quality of education and care. We are committed to this practice and will actively involve parents in the development of each child at Blossoms Nursery. We see this as a partnership, of which communication between the nursery and your home is of utmost importance (this may include; home observations, photographic evidence and communication books).

Key CarersStaff working in the nursery are highly committed to identifying and meeting the individual needs of each child attending. To aid this process, Blossoms Nursery operates a key carer system whereby every level two and three qualified member of staff is responsible for a group of children, liaising with their families and maintaining the children’s records of development and learning. The records are to be used to support discussions with parents and to support the early identification of any child who may be experiencing difficulties in any area or who may have particular strengths.

Learning JourneysThis is where we record the progress your child is making at our nursery. It is full of pictures and observations and we ensure that this is sent home regularly so that parents can see the progress their child is making and allow an opportunity for crucial two-way communication.

Safeguarding In ChildcareThe team at Blossoms Nursery’s first responsibility and priority is to the children in our care. If the team have any cause for concern we will report this to the relevant body. We follow the appropriate local procedure.Blossoms Nursery is fully compliant with all current safety requirements and at least one trained first aider is found in each playroom.

SENCOStaff working in the nursery recognise that all children have a right to access a broad and balanced curriculum, allowing them to progress and learn at a pace and level reflective of their individual abilities.Children who face barriers to their learning may require additional educational intervention to support their learning. Special educational needs are supported at Blossoms Nursery through an external partnerships. Staff will keep all information private and confidential and will not discuss children’s development to other parents, children or anyone who does not have direct care with the child.

UniformsWe ask that all children and all staff wear the Blossoms uniform. This is primarily for safety but also helps to foster the feeling that we are all equal.

Welcome to Blossoms AcademyForest Gate

Our Aim“A home to home environment”

We are ecstatic to announce our second nursery is now open at Sebert road in Forest Gate London. We understand that

some parents may be working far, such as in the city, and we feel this will be an ideal location for parents to use public transport such as buses/trains and are able to put their

children in our care.

The activities provided for children will be for ages 2 to 5 years old. We will be working from the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and will provide a high standard of care with

Ofsted regulations. We will bring our passionate, caring nature and ethics to Blossoms Academy, ensuring that we

continue to strive to be excellent and give children the best start from early years.

“Shows care and concern for living things and the environment”

“Knows that numbers identify how many objects are in a set”

“Looks at and handles books carefully”

“Realises tools can be used for a purpose”

“Eats a healthy range of food

stuffs and understand need

for variety in food”

Graduating from Blossoms Some of our Blossoms have been here for a short but sweet time while others

have been with us from the very beginning. No matter what the length of time is, there has to come a time to say farewell. At Blossoms we don’t say

‘goodbye’, we say ‘farewell’ because Graduating does not necessarily mean

the end of their time at Blossoms (some may return for before/after club

or holiday club). Graduating means hello to new ventures at school, which is something that the staff have been preparing the children for since the

beginning of their journey at Blossoms. We want children to feel that they

enjoyed their time here with us as a family. We have treasured having each child, watching them grow individually and learn in many different ways. Each child that goes to school will leave their

mark and help new children become Empowered for Greatness!
