Hi, I am the presenter at A & J Collision Repair My name is AJ Crash, my friends call me Crash

I get asked all the time about the different types of parts that are used on a vehicle for repairs.

So, what I would like to do today is help you understand what the different types of parts are.

Let’s get started

Page 2: A & J Collision Repair Parts Presentation

There are 4 different sources of parts that are purchased for your vehicle. OEM Part Used or LKQ Part A/M Part Recondition Part On the following slides I will tell you more about each one of them. So fasten your seat belts and lets move on.

OEM Part OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacture otherwise known as dealer parts. This is the part that is purchased from the dealership of the make of the vehicle that you own Most parts that are purchased from the dealers will be tagged with a sticker from the manufacturer

OEM Part Here is an example of an OEM part that I got for my 2004 Honda Civic

Here is that sticker that I was telling you about.

I bet you are wondering why I am looking at these parts. I will tell you about it in a bit, let’s keep going with the presentation.

Used or LKQ Part LKQ stands for Like, Kind and Quality and I know you know what Used is. The part was on another vehicle already, and when the vehicle went to vehicle heaven, the good parts on that vehicle were recycled for the use on other vehicles. I did not know that vehicles had a donor program, they must put it on the title.

Used or LKQ Part

These parts are purchased from a parts recycling business.

These parts have to be inspected for prior repairs or painting. The good thing about these parts is that you will usually get additional items with the part. ( the bracket still attached) This part does not match my cars color, and I do not have a pinstripe either.

A/M Part A/M Part stands for Aftermarket Part It is a part that is manufactured by a company other than the vehicles’ manufacturer. There are several different types of A/M parts. There are ones that are certified and there are ones that are not certified.

A/M Part A way that I could explain this to you would be using an comparison. If you pour Coke in to one glass and an off brand of coke into another glass. They may look the same…..

but they may not taste the same.

A/M Part Now do not take me the wrong way, there is a place for these types of parts and I have used them before, but it is a case by case basis. These A/M parts are cost effective, so if you are looking to save some money on the repair cost, this is something to look into. Let’s take a look at the part. Ready?

A/M Part This is the packaging and the part after it is removed from the box. You can see that there is not as much protection to the part like the OEM one.

All certified parts will have this sticker of the certification on it.

I have had a little mishap with the front of my little Honda, so I have been looking into these parts for….well myself.

Recondition Part

The last one that I want to tell you about is the recondition parts. These parts are a part that have been damaged and have been refurbished. These parts should be inspected for a quality repair of the area that was repaired as well as the coating that was put on it. These parts are usually plastic bumpers, head lights and some mechanical components.

No matter what part that you choose to use, all of the parts will have a warranty to them of some kind.

And I will assure you that the folks at A & J Collision Repair will not install any part on your car that they could not warranty.

Now I need to get these parts that I have been showing you back to the parts department before Jody notices that they are missing.

But before I go I would like to tell you a little about the company that I work for.
