(B, D) DAY 4: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6 – PETRA This morning, after breakfast, we celebrate Mass at our hotel. We travel to Petra, a 2000-year-old Nabatean city. We walk about a half-mile through the narrow passageway with cliffs on either side (called the “Siq”). At the end of the Siq, appears Petra’s Treasury; a massive royal tomb carved out of the solid mountain rock. Time permitting we will see Jabal Harun, the place where Aaron is buried. Dinner and overnight are in Petra. (B, D) DAY 5: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7 – PETRA/ ALLENBY BRIDGE FOR ISRAEL/ JERICHO/ MT. TABOR / TIBERIAS / GALILEE This morning, we depart Petra and travel north for the Allenby Bridge for Israel. After we cross into Israel we drive to nearby Jericho and visit the well of this oldest city and view the traditional mountain of Jesus' temptation. We take taxis to the top of Mt. Tabor. The elevation provides an utterly commanding view of all of Galilee. It was here that Jesus revealed the wonderful power of presence in communion with saints of the past (Moses and Elijah). We visit the site of the Transfiguration, Mass will be celebrated here. We drive east through Poriah heading to Tiberias. Dinner and overnight in Galilee. (B, D) DAY 6: SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8 – GALILEE: CANA / SEPPHORIS / NAZARETH After breakfast we drive up towards Nazareth and stop at Cana of Galilee where Jesus performed his first miracle. We continue to Nazareth and spend the rest of the morning getting acquainted with Nazareth, visiting its spring and walking through the present-day bazaar to the site of the ancient village, where today stands the Church of the Annunciation. Here, we celebrate Mass. We travel back to Galilee and on the way we will have the opportunity to walk to the edge of the Arbel cliff, overlooking the northern part of the Sea of Galilee, including the main sites of Jesus' mission, before returning back to our base in Galilee for dinner and overnight. (B, D)

Dear Pilgrim Traveler: I invite you to join our group of faith filled travelers on a spiritual journey to the Holy Land and Jordan. It will be “A Journey of Faith, a Pilgrimage of Blessing,” of walking in the footsteps of Jesus. This is a wonderful time of year to be in the Holy Land offering beautiful weather and smaller crowds. Please join me for a walk in the footsteps of our Lord which is led by experienced travel guides in Jordan and Israel, providing meaningful trips for Catholic pilgrims. The opportunity to walk where Jesus walked, is often a very moving and life changing experience. Being in the scriptural places from the 4 Gospels will help create what many have called “The Fifth Gospel,” found within the Holy Land itself. It is my hope to celebrate specially planned Liturgies at some of the Holy Places and bring a spiritual perspective to this pilgrimage where our local travel guides will lead us to appreciate the archeology, geography and history of the Land where Jesus walked, taught and healed. I hope you will join me for this memorable and meaningful experience of the actual historical places where Jesus revealed Himself not only to his followers but for all the world. The spaces will fill up very fast. I invite to pray and think about being a part of this wonderful pilgrimage of faith to the Holy Land and Jordan.

With all my hopes,

Fr. Peter

Then we visit Mt. of Beatitudes, where we reflect on Jesus' teachings and celebrate Mass. We then descend to Tabgha at the northwestern shore of the lake, an area intense with Christian memories. Here we visit a Church of the Multiplication commemorating the first feeding of the multitude. We go on to Capernaum: with the help of the ruins, we remember the miracles Jesus worked here. We then drive north to Caesarea Philippi, a source of the Jordan at the foot of Mt. Hermon - where Peter confessed his recognition of Jesus as the Christ. We return to the lake via the Golan Heights, with a view toward Damascus. Dinner and overnight in Galilee. (B, D) DAY 8: TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10 – GALILEE / MT. We drive along the Via Maris - the Mediterranean coastline south to Caesarea Maritima to explore this Roman bridgehead to the East, which became the Christian springboard to the West. After our visit to this ancient harbor, we travel to the historic Beth Horon road to the Benjamin Plateau, passing ancient Gibeon and continuing on to Jerusalem. From atop Mt. Scopus, we behold majestic Jerusalem. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. Then we visit Solomon’s Pools, Jerusalem’s main source of water for almost 2,000 years. Passing the monastery of Hortus Conclusus (“the sealed garden”) in Artas we continue to one of the traditional sites of the “Shepherds’ Fields.” We experience the contrast between shepherds and kings by visiting King Herod’s Summer Palace. In Bethlehem we stroll through the restored old town to the Church of the Nativity, visiting the manger. Next, we travel to the Church of St. Catherine to visit Jerome's Grotto. After Mass, we walk to the Milk Grotto. We return to our hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. (B, D) DAY 10: THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12 – JERUSALEM After breakfast, we drive to the Mount of Olives. The summit offers a magnificent view of the Old City. We continue with a visit of the Church of the Assumption (burial place of the Virgin Mary and St. Anne's). We drive

through the Kidron Valley and head towards Mt. Zion, where we will pass the Tombs of Absalom and Zachariah. We visit the Church of St. Peter-in- Gallicantu. Next, we visit the Upper Room, site of the Last Supper and descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. We drive through the Judean Wilderness back down in the Rift Valley, south along the western shores of the Dead Sea to Masada, where we will take a cable car ride to the ruins of Herod's palace-fortress atop Masada. We visit the ruins of the fortifications, reservoirs for water, Herodian palaces, synagogue, and Roman temples and baths. After lunch, we enjoy the panoramic view of Ein Gedi. We visit the Dead Sea and have the opportunity to float in the Dead Sea. Later, we visit Qumran, where the hidden library of the Essenes, the Dead Sea Scrolls (currently displayed at the Israel Museum), were found in 1947. On our return to Jerusalem, we pass by the "Inn of the Good Samaritan." Dinner and overnight at our hotel in Jerusalem. (B, D) DAY 12: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14 – JERUSALEM Early this morning, after breakfast, we drive to the Old City and enter through St. Stephen’s Gate to walk the Via Dolorosa and pray along the Stations of the Cross, retracing Jesus’ last steps before His crucifixion to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. We visit the Crusader Church of St. Anne and explore the Pool of Bethesda. We stop at the convent of the Sisters of Zion to see the Lithostrotos in the Chapel of the Flagellation, where Jesus was tried and condemned by Pilate.
