November/December 2016 THE GOLDEN EAGLE Stapleton Elementary School’s Newsletter Published by the Stapleton PTO A LETTER FROM MRS. BRIGHT & MRS. BENABDALLAH Happy Holidays! At this time of year individuals often reflect on the many parts of their lives they are thankful for. Here at Stapleton, we reflect each day about our good fortune in having your children as our students and having your support as stakeholders. As a small school, we pride ourselves on having positive relationships with each and every student. We are able to celebrate their successes and support them as they strengthen areas of focus. More importantly, we are fortunate that we are able to be a part of their growth - academically, socially, and emotionally. Part of this growth is their ability to recognize that they are part of a larger, diverse community and acknowledge their important role within that community. This season as we recognize and are thankful for the wonderful parts of our lives, we also recognize that some individuals are not so fortunate. Here at Stapleton, we have put many things in place to support members of our community who are in need of our support: We continue to collect gently used coats for those in need and have collected a total of 42 to date. Additionally, we support our local food pantry, A Place to Turn, by collecting boxes of stuffing in November and canned vegetables in December. A former student has set up a Timothy’s Toy Box collection in the main office that will accept donations through December 8 th . Furthermore, we continue to collect soda bottles and cans to support our veterans - last year we raised over $250 through these efforts. This year we have already raised more than $100.
