a little bathroom humor - a tale of the beach chalet athletic fields restrooms
DESCRIPTION
The SF Rec and Park Department wants to bulldoze all the grass at the Beach Chalet Soccer Fields and put in 7 acres of artificial turf and 150,000 watts of stadium lighting --- destroying the habitat and beauty of the western end of Golden Gate Park, next to Ocean Beach. This environmentally-damaging project is budgeted at $14 million, including a $475,000 restroom renovation! And yet -- the restroom in the campaign literature looks nothing like the restroom as it is today! What is going on? Follow the presentation to find out -- and then go to www.sfoceanedge.org to learn more about what you can do to protect Golden Gate Park. A LITTLE
BATHROOM HUMOR
WHY YOU SHOULD NEVERBELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU
READ IN A
CAMPAIGN MAILER
OR
The SF Rec and Park Department wants
to bulldoze all the grass at the Beach
Chalet Soccer Fields and put in 7 acres of
artificial turf and 150,000 watts of
stadium lighting --- destroying the habitat
and beauty of the western end of Golden
Gate Park, next to Ocean Beach.
This environmentally-
damaging project is budgeted
at $14 million, including a
$475,000 restroom
renovation!
Wow!
Must be some restroom!
Didn’t I just get something in
the mail about that restroom?
Where is that
stack of
campaign
mailers . . . . .
Here is the campaign mailer!
What a scary looking place!
No wonder no one “wants to use” it ---
BUT WAIT ---
we were just out at the fields, AND…
This is what the restroom looks like today!
What happened?
The restroom
today.
Photo from
the campaign
mailer!
W T F ??????
Was the restroom on the political flyer
caught in a time warp?
This could be scary – go into a restroom
today and end up in 1998 – or whenever
that photo was taken. . . . .
Hey – if that restroom
does time travel, AND
if I were to use that
restroom and emerge
(refreshed), would I
also be years younger?
Me – Contemplating life
choices if I use the
Beach Chalet restroom.
Decision made – I’ll “go” for it …….
Me -- after using
the Beach Chalet
restroom.
Pretty cool, huh!
Like, totally
awesome!
This could work – and what a great revenue
generator for Rec and Park!
THE
BEACH CHALET RESTROOM EXPERIENCE-YOU NOT ONLY FEEL YOUNGER --
YOU ARE YOUNGER!
OK, calm down.
With my new, younger
brain, it occurs to me
that perhaps there are
other reasons that no
one “wants to use”
that restroom.
Hm-m-m-m
What could it be?
Hey, let’s all think about this hard!
Are you thinking about this?
Eureka! We have it!
Could this be
the reason
no one
“wants to
use” this
restroom?
Let’s look at
this sign more
closely --
Now we know!
No one “wants to use”
the restroom because –
THEY CAN’T GET IN!
. . . . Unless Rec and Park
unlocks it for them.
. . . . Unless you have a
permit.
. . . . . And for adults -
Unless you have paid for
a permit.
SF Rec and Park – always creative with
ways to squeeze every penny out of our
[used-to-be-public] park system and
park users --has come up with a new
policy for revenue generation -

BEACH CHALET RESTROOM EXPERIENCE
Pay to Pee (or “GO” somewhere else…..)
(And if you don’t
have the funds or a
permit, there is
always Ocean
Beach…..)
MORAL:
Campaign literature can say ANYTHING!
LESSON:
Know the facts before you vote!
This message was created by volunteers and is donated to the Yes on H
and No on I campaign for the purpose of saving Golden Gate Park.

FACT: The Beach Chalet Fields (and the
restroom) can be renovated with real
grass and NO stadium lighting for a few
million dollars, and the rest of the funding
can be used to fix up fields for kids all
over San Francisco!
