Remember Abraham….Remember Jesus

Genesis 12 & John 12 & Romans 12

The Call of Abram

12:1 The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the

land I will show you. 2 “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you;I will make your name

great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you,and whoever curses you I will

curse;and all peoples on earthwill be blessed through you.” 4 So Abram went, as the Lord had told

him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran. 5 He took

his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had

acquired in Harran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there.

Jesus Predicts His Death

12:20 Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to

worship at the festival. 21 They came to Philip, who was from

Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. “Sir,” they said, “we would

like to see Jesus.” 22 Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew and

Philip in turn told Jesus. 23 Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be

glorified. 24 Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to

the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it

produces many seeds. 25 Anyone who loves their life will lose it,

while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 Whoever serves me must

follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.

A Living Sacrifice

12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living

sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern

of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and

approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

1. Lord, please speak to me through scripture, through other people, and my circumstances to let me know if there are any adventures you are calling me on in order to be a greater blessing to others.

2. Lord, please speak to me....to instruct my heart on what I need to die to (John 12, Rom. 12) in order to be a greater blessing to others.

3. Lord, please guide Campus as we enter into a new phase in our history. May your Spirit motivate us to trust deeper in you, be willing to die to ourselves trusting you for the resurrection you always bring about.
