Multi-agent System Development

Software agents are cognitive and autonomous components, situated in an environment, which are capable of flexible andautonomous actions in this environment in order to achievetheir projects goals [Wooldridge, 2000].

The multi-agent systems (MAS) approach allows complexsystems modelling [Bellifemine et al., 2007].

Modeling Languages and Tools

There are several agent-oriented modeling techniques thatgenerates code.

Prometheus - Jack [Sun et al., 2010].

Ingenias - Jade [Gomez-Sanz et al., 2008].

PASSI - Jade [Cossentino and Potts, 2002]

FAML

FAML is a meta-model that unifies different agent-orientedmodelling languages inside the same software engineeringdomain for MAS development. This generic meta-model wasvalidated to guarantee the concepts promoted by the extantagent-oriented methodologies [Beydoun et al., 2009].Internal Scope, composed by the Agent and its definitions.External Scope, composed by the System and theEnvironment.

Jason Programming Language

Jason is a programming language for MAS development. In Jasonan agent can be programmed based on beliefs, goals, plans andactions [Bordini et al., 2007].

Moise+ is an organizational model that can be integrated toJason to support the specification of an agent organization[Hubner et al., 2002].

The MDA Approach For MAS DevelopmentOverviewMeta-modelsThe Proposed Transformation Set

The approach intends to be modeling language independentthus it begins its model transformation from FAML concepts.

Any agent modeling language that adheres to FAML can beused.

The approach provides a set of transformations to mapinstances of FAML concepts to the target model based onJason constructions, in order to generate MAS code.

a modelling environment with graphical tools for instantiatethe FAML meta-model will be developed using GMF.

The FAML can be used to generate code for othersagent-oriented program languages like JACK, JADE andJADEX.
