About The AuthorRobert Jordan (October 17, 1948–September 16, 2007), a native of Charleston, South Carolina, was theauthor of the bestselling The Wheel of Time®, with millions of books in print.

Brandon Sanderson grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska. He teaches creative writing at BrighamYoung University andlives in Utah with his wife and children.

Biography

Robert Jordan was born in 1948 in Charleston, South Carolina, where he lived with his wife, Harriet, in a housebuilt in 1797. He taught himself to read when he was four (with the incidental aid of a twelve-years-olderbrother) and was tacklingMark Twain and Jules Verne by five. After graduating fromThe Citadel, the MilitaryCollege of South Carolina, with a degree in physics, he served two tours in Vietnamwith the U.S. Army, earningthe Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star with "V", and two Vietnamese Crosses ofGallantry. A historybuff, he also wrote dance and theater criticism. In September, 2007, Jordan died from complications of a rareblood disease. He was 58 years old.

Fans of the Jordan's Wheel of Time epic have been waiting 13 books for the Last Battle, and they are about tobe rewarded as Jordan/Sanderson (Towers ofMidnight) bring the series to one final crescendo. It is time forRand al'Thor to face the Dark One in the Last Battle for humanity, but he can't do it alone; he must also gather allof the forces of the world together and turn them, united, against the Trolloc armies that threaten to overwhelm.Those unfamiliar with the series may be left cold by chapter after chapter of battle scenes, death, glory, andheroism, which are interspersed with tactics, politics, and plotting. Since the publication of The Eye of the World in 1990, fans have eagerly anticipated how the final battle ofJordan’s groundbreaking “Wheel of Time†epic fantasy series ends. Over the years, readers have cometo know Rand, Mat, Perrin, Egwene, Nynaeve, and many other characters, vicariously joining in their journey tosave the world from the Dark One. At last comes the long-anticipated 14th and concluding volume, and it isdefinitely worth the wait. Sanderson (“Mistborn†trilogy; The Alloy of Law), who was given the task ofcompleting the series when Jordan died in 2007, has done a wonderful job of tying together all the loose ends,sometimes in very surprising ways. Of course, the epilog is the almost unaltered scene (or series of scenes)written and kept secret by Jordan decades ago.

Verdict Anyone who has read the first “Wheel†books will want to read this one as well. In fact, anyonewho likes epic fantasy will enjoy it. However, “The Wheel of Time†is such a complex series that one mustread the titles in order to avoid confusion at all of the twists and turns. "There are no endings, and never will be endings, to the turning of the Wheel of Time." Even so, with this volume,the late Jordan's hyperinflated Wheel of Time series grinds to a halt. Jordan (Eye of the World, 1990, etc.), hererevived by way of the extensive notebooks, drafts and outlines he left behind by amanuensis Sanderson (creativewriting/BrighamYoung Univ.), was an ascended master of second-tier Tolkien-ism; the world he creates is asdensely detailed as Middle-earth, and if the geography sounds similar, pocked with place names such as FarMadding and the Blasted Lands, that's no accident. Tolkien-esque, too, is the scenario for this saga-closer,namely a "last battle" in which the forces of good are arrayed against those of darkness. The careless readermight take this to be a battle of hairdressers in a West Indian neighborhood: "The Dreadlords came for himeventually, sending an explosion to finish the job. Deepe spent the last moments throwing weaves at them. Hedied well." That's not the case, of course: instead, saga heroes Mat Cauthon and Perrin Aybara range the landsbeyond the Dark One's prison to do allmanner of good and adventuresome things. It's a strange world, that:Perrin finds the pit to end all pits, "[a]n eternal expanse, like the blackness of the Ways, only this one seemed tobe pulling him into it." But then, what kind of epic would it be if it weren't a strange place? Will wolves and orcs—or whatever they are—take over the world, or will the good guys prevail? Jordan's fans, who are legion, will

most decidedly want to learn the answer to that question.

Rating this a 1 because there is no ebook is stupid and childish. Really, grow up.

This book is an AMAZING finale to an equally AMAZING series. Brandon Sanderson does a great jobfinishing up where Robert Jordan left off. The characters are rich and entertaining, and the plot plays outbeautifully. This is by far my absolute favorite series ever. Hands down.

FOR ANYONEWHO HAS READ JORDAN FROM THE BEGINNING I FIND FUNNY THATALLTHESE PEOPLEWOULD BASH THIEWORK OVER IT NOT BEING ON E-BOOK "SAMEONYOUALL". THE STORY IS HIS MASTER PIECE. I for one amglad he wrote it.

This book is phenomenal. Sanderson and Team Jordan (including Jordan's editor and wife, Harriet) had adaunting task, picking up the baton from Jordan and finishing the Wheel of Time. Thankfully, they took on thetask, and have done an amazing job.

I enjoyed both of the previous two "collaborations" by Brandon Sanderson and Robert Jordan agreat deal. But AMemory of Light is leaps and bounds better than them. The character voices are spot-onthroughout. Mat Cauthon felt a little off to some of us, especially in The Gathering Storm, but Sanderson hasbeen getting himbetter and better, and Mat really shines here. Rand is the best he's been in ages. All of the

characters are true to themselves, and the Last Battle is maybe evenmore epic, heart-wrenching, and engrossingthan expected. If you're a fan who was worried that the Dark One and his minions were incompetent, worry nomore! If you feared that the ending wouldn't satisfy the anticipation, worry no more! One of the best reads ofmylife, truly. Thank you Brandon, Harriet, and everyone involved. P.S. Ebook readers - I can't wait to get it onebook myself. But that's a separate issue. Review the content. If you want to bash on a publisher or booksellerfor not having it on the right platform, more power to you, but complain about that in the appropriate forum, notin a review intended to help people decide if they'll like the book. They don't need you to tell them if they want iton ebook or hardcover!
