HUGESAVINGS

INVENTORYJEWELRY Happy holiday season everyone! Yes, we agree, summer and fall went by too fast, but now is the perfect time to get a start on your holiday shopping (include yourself - you deserve it!) and support Native American arts at the same time. We will have a fantastic selection of earrings, rings, pendants and bracelets that will make great gifts in all price ranges. We have also focused on pieces with the higher quality turquoise stones such as high grade Kingman, Morenci, Fox and Bisbee. And the holidays wouldn’t be the same without color so we stocked up on jewelry with orange, red and purple spiny oyster shell. Add to that jewelry with lapis, coral, onyx, malachite, mother of pearl, tiger eye and fire agate (our very own creations!), and you’ve got a rainbow-colored selection with something for every taste! We also have an extensive variety of sterling silver jewelry with man-made opal and a few pieces with spider opal (also man-made). The artists of Stone Weaver have been hard at work creating more of their fantastic inlay jewelry and we have a great new line of sterling silver necklaces with burnished and diamond cut beads from Gallup. These pieces are so on-trend and go with today’s modern fashions as well as western wear. Alton Bedonie made a beautiful spiny oyster shell and Lapis necklace and earring set as well as a couple of new styles for his pendants - all of which we helped design. One of these styles he will be making exclusively for us, so you won’t find it anywhere else. He is currently working on two heavy style bracelets, a pendant and a bolo tie with the High grade Kingman turquoise, which we should have for the show along with several large men’s turquoise rings. Mary Tom created two more stunning short necklaces, one with coral and one in all silver as well as two of her famous and popular Sleeping Beauty turquoise flower pendants. On our latest buying trip we got a beautiful 14kt gold and deep red coral pendant from Vernon Haskie, an older Zuni five-strand turquoise fetish necklace and a beautiful mother of pearl pin/pendant by Lee and Mary Weebothee. On another trip to Farmington, New Mexico, we got a collection of old spoons and tie bars which date from 1910 to the 1930’s. Tamara has been busy cutting fire agate and has come up with some great stones. Alton Bedonie, Mary Tom and Brian Clark have all made jewelry featuring these stones, and she continues to work on more as her busy schedule allows. We still have two weeks of buying at the time of this writing, so there will be many more beautiful new things including sandpaintings, rugs and lots more jewelry! Artists whose work will be represented at the show are: Vernon Haskie, Michael Perry, Bruce Hodgins, Brian Clark, Al Nez, Gibson Nez, Gerald Lomaventema, Jack Tom , Alex Sanchez, Kee Yazzie, Chris Nieto, Jerry Whagado, Erwin Tsosie, Dale Edaakie, Ruddell and Nancy Laconsello, Smoky Gchachu, Delbert Gordon, Darryl Becenti, Patty and Raylan Edaakie, Veronica Benally, Connie Seowtewa, Darrell Cadman, Steve Arviso, Sunshine Reeves, Wilbert Vandever and many more.

KACHINAS

For this gift giving season, we have an exciting variety of small kachina carvings, from both Hopi and Navajo artists. Raymond Chee entered one carving at Indian Market this past summer and received yet another first place award. It took some time after that but he did complete two wonderful sculptures for us with amazing detail and lifelike attributes. There are also several pieces by other well known artists like Laurence Dallas, Wayne and Adrian Poleahla, Timothy Talawepi and more.

FETISHES & CARVINGS We have a large and fun selection of Zuni animal fetishes on hand. Many of these carvings are by well known, award winning artists and are crafted from an assortment of stones and organic material. We have

the traditional spirit animals as well as modern animal carving styles that make a nice addition to any collection. Marvin Toya, from the Jemez Pueblo carved several new mid-size pieces that measure in the six to eight inch range and some smaller inexpensive gift sized ones. A few of Marvin’s carvings have the orange alabaster moon inserts that he is known for. A must-see is Florentine Martinez’s newest exquisitely carved turquoise sculpture featuring Avanyu/Kolowisi (water serpent) over an incredibly detailed pueblo. Florentine is a multi-award winning Zuni carver, and this masterpiece shows why! We have a large selection of both traditional style carvings and modern contemporary works by some of today’s best fetish carvers.

SANDPAINTINGS, RUGS & ART We have a large selection of medium and small sandpaintings as well as a good collection of sandpainting clocks and boxes. New pieces include two extremely nice sandpaintings with really fancy matting. One is by Eugene Baatsoslanii Joe and the other is by Herman Taylor; two of the top award winning Navajo sand painters. All of our sandpaintings are completely handmade, matted and framed by Navajo artists. Something new and fun that we rarely have is a miniature Navajo rug on loom. This delightful work of art shows how the rugs are made and makes a great educational piece as well as being decorative. Another new addition includes two incredibly finely woven, high-quality miniature Navajo rugs, both of which measure 5”x7”. Other fabulous miniature works of art include horsehair baskets, sterling silver pots and pans, and clay pottery. There is also a great selection of traditional pottery and varied color horsehair pots. There will be something in everyone’s gift price range.

See you at the show!Eric and Matt
